Guest guest
Dear Sue, I am sitting here laughing to myself, thinking how could I have sent a message that oysters gave me shingles. I must have screwed up badly. I was talking about Dr. Talpaz and something he told me, but I must have left something out. He loved to talk about food and I mentioned that I loved oysters, but would not eat them raw and he told me it was safe for me to eat oysters. (I think we were all discussing about whether we had conferred with our doctors about taking the vaccine to see if it was safe.) I was worried about the infections from bacteria. I am very careful about how I handle seafood and touch it as little as I can. I have a friend who had a flesh eating bacteria from touching an ice chest near the sea shore where she had been fishing. They had to graft flesh from her legs on to her arm, because the doctor ignored her symptoms. She said she lay in the hospital for 3 weeks, asking to die, it was so painful. That's what I want to avoid. Sewerage used to be contained in cesspools and outdoor toilets; now it is sometimes released into seawater, thus the proliferation of bacteria in our waterways. Now they have found that e.coli from cesspools are in our water wells and drinking water. I hope we are on the same page with regard to oysters. I do eat them cooked, however, my taste for them has never diminished. When I was on INF, that is the food I craved, because it took the metallic taste away. Now that you mention it, I was on Gleevec when I was diagnosed with shingles, but of course we all know people who never used Gleevec who had shingles. What you say has merit, as so many have voluntered to speak of their own bout with the virus. Some people have had it more than once. My neighbor who had lymphoma had a severe case and it never went away, she had it for several years. I'm sure the great debate will continue as to whether one should get the vaccine or not, and it is certainly up to each individual. Does it guarantee that you will not get it, I don't know, maybe someone else has done research on it. Blessings, Lottie
