I called the Novartis people and they dont seem to know about this story and They tell me to apply for special assistance so they can evaluate your financial status !! I mistakenly gave out my social security number and then stopped to asked if this was based on your income which I didnt see why it would matter as I was a participant/ 'guinea pig' for the clinicaltrip and feel I should get gleevec for free regards of my income!! I f anyone has read this article or know of this arrangement ..love to hear from you! For some of the trials Novartis continues to provide Gleevec free of charge and for other trials they don't. I was on the expanded access trial (112 I think). That trial ended once the drug received FDA approval. Everyone still involved in the IRIS trial continues to get Gleevec free.
