HI Everyone,

There is an article about gleevec and how insurance

has not subsidizing patients appropiately because its a pills.

Here is the link to the

story...http://www.nytimes.com/2009/04/15/business/15pill.html?_r=1 & scp=3 & sq=fre\

e%20gleevec & st=cse

Has anyone or is anyone on this special arrangement where

if your were a participant in a clinical trial for gleevec back then known as

STI 571 as I was,, ,,,are you getting your gleevec for free?

I called the Novartis people and they dont seem to know about this story

and They tell me to apply for special assistance so

they can evaluate your financial status !! I mistakenly gave out

my social security number and then stopped to asked if this was based on your

income which I didnt see why it would matter as I was a participant/ 'guinea

pig' for the clinicaltrip and feel I should get gleevec for free regards of my

income!!

I f anyone has read this article or know of this arrangement ..love to hear

from you!

Hi Jeff,

It all depends on which trial you were on. For some of the trials Novartis

continues to provide Gleevec free of charge and for other trials they don't.

I was on the expanded access trial (112 I think). That trial ended once the

drug received FDA approval.

Everyone still involved in the IRIS trial continues to get Gleevec free.
