Guest guest
When a person with CML begins treatment with Sprycel, is it customary to get an EKG and/or X-ray? My former doctor said that would be required before starting Tasigna, and I'm wondering if the same holds for Sprycel. And how do you know if you are suffering from pleural effusion? Do you have chest pain? Suddenly I'm a bundle of nerves. Thanks, friends. _________________________________________________________________ Hotmail® goes with you. http://windowslive.com/Tutorial/Hotmail/Mobile?ocid=TXT_TAGLM_WL_HM_Tutorial_Mob\ ile1_052009
Guest guest
HI I HAVE ALWAYS HAD TO GET CHEST X RAYS NO MATTER HAT DRUG I WAS ON. YOU WILL KNOW IF YOU HAVE PLEURAL EFFUSION, YOU GET SHORT OF BREATH, ALSO PAIN IN THE CHEST. WHEN I HAD IT THE FIRST TIME I THOUGHT IT WAS A HEART ATTACK AND WENT TO THE ER. THEY DID A CHEST X RAY AND DX ME WITH PNEUMONIA, EVEN THOUGH I KEPT TELLING THEM PE WAS A SIDE EFFECT OF THE DRUG., AND EKG'S? ALWAYS, ESPECIALLY WITH A NEW DRUG, LIKE A TRIAL. I GET EKG'S EVERY WEEK AND ECHOCARDIOGRAMS EVERY MONTH ON THIS NEW ARIAD DRUG. IF YOU GET SHORT OF BREATH, DO NOT IGNORE IT, BY THE TIME MY DR HERE FIGURED OUT WHAT IT WAS THEY HAD TO DO A THORACENTESIS AND REMOVED OVER A LITER OF FLUID. BUT THE PE DID NOT HAPPEN UNTIL I HAD BEEN ON SPRYCEL FOR 1 1/2 YEARS, SO I THOUGHT I WAS FREE OF THAT EVEN HAPPENING. I HOPE YOU DO NOT GET IT, I HAD TO STOP SPRYCEL. Guest guest
I have been on Sprycel over 2 years and get a chest xray about every 3 months to watch for plural infusion. I have never had it but my ono just likes to watch closely and I sure appreciate that. Best of luck Carolyn_Kuptz2000@...
