Guest guest
Sandi: It is so good to see your very positive post about Hunter's progress. We all so well remember the first throes of the arthritis journey, and how hard that time was. Its so good to see that you now have, as you put it so well, the 'upper hand'. Hooray! Congratulations to Hunter on the contest! That is so awesome. I think it is so wonderful an idea that you had, to start a support group at your school for families of kids with chronic illness. What a great idea! Do keep us posted on how it is going. It could be a model for others in our shoes.. I'm hoping to go to Atlanta next year, with or without my family (hubbie may not get off work, Rob isn't interested too much). Hmmm, maybe I could disguise it as a trip to check out colleges, and say, oh, the AJAO is close by! (Although Indiana is not that close to Georgia, tee hee) Anyway, good to see you posting such wonderful news all the way around! and Rob 16 Spondy On Sat, 3 Dec 2005 18:35:43 EST deerhuntert6@... writes: Sorry I haven't posted this earlier - this second year of Hunter's illness has been so different from the first year. I remember all the fear and uncertainess we had that first year and how much the disease controlled our family. Happy to report that this second year we have had the upper hand. Hunter was the Honoree for our First Annual Arthritis Walk in Columbus, GA. Our goal for the foundation was $20000 and that we made. Hunter's Team raised $2500 toward the goal. We had a great time but Hunter really got tired of talking about " Arthritis " . I told her after the Walk we would get back to normal and less talking about the disease. Then she entered a contest for the Children's Miracle Network (she did it herself) she drew a reindeer family and she won. Her drawing was used on the 6th Annual Reindeer Run sweatshirt sponsored by the CMN. Hunter is doing well so far the cold temperatures have caused only minor aches and pains. We are coming up on our two year anniversary with " Arthritis " . Ken is working 60 hours weeks so that I continue to stay at home. He is getting in alittle hunting. As for me - I am spending alot of time at the school and working with our PTA to get a new playground. I am also in the process of starting a support group through the school with families who have chronically ill children. Hunter is the only child with JRA but we have several other families who deal with other serious diseases. It so helps to feel that we are not alone. I hope all is going well with all the other families on this site. I can't wait to meet many of you this summer in Atlanta. Happy Holidays - Sandi Ken Hunter (7 Systemic)
Guest guest
- thank you for the post. The trip was amazing - God gave us beautiful weather - sunny skies and mild days. Hunter did great - although today she is somewhat sore in her legs. It was so great to get home. Hope all is well with your family. Guest guest
I lived in California for 16 years, so if I came your way, my husband and I would have to visit the grave of our infant daughter and the park where we were married in San Diego. We have spoken about making the trip for years. I know you are still hours north of there, but talk of California always brings back memories. I'm sure you guys are already doing the Neti pot (sinus washes) and such. Have you ever tried the sinuneb or something like that? Hi Pattie, Until now, his sinus infections have been under control. His Ped doesn't think sinus washes are good for kids. However, I think this Ped is talking about Bri as if he didn't have a PID. Last week he told me the only two reasons that kids get constipated was lack of fiber or water. I wanted to add: or they have a PID. But I kept my mouth shut. I knew it would be better to talk to him a different visit. I'm going to give him the IDF number for physicians so he can ask them and not just take my word for it. After all, I'm just the Mom, what do I know?? LOL, only 13 years of experience!!! Okay, I'm done! Sandi, Mom to --age 13--CVID

Bri's Immuno prescribed this but in true Bri form--he is allergic to this abx! Great idea though. Sandi, Mom to --age 13--CVID

Plus, these well-meaning Docs are referring to kids without PID's. How that relates to our kids, I have no idea.
