Guest guest
Hi Ann! Welcome to the group! This IS a great group of people isn't it. It's so nice to have people to bounce ideas, aches and experiences off off who really understand what you're talking about. Anyway, your experiences with Humira would be of great interest to me. I just took my 3rd shot last week and reduced my Pred to 35 MG...still taking MTX 16.5 MG weekly too. I feel like I'm doing better...but definately not where I'd like to be. How long would you give the Humira to work? My RD says 4 to 6 shots. Does that sound about right? By the way, I'm 52, diagnosed in Oct of 2006, but came down with the fevers, headaches, sore throat, rash and joint pain in July/August. I've already tried Enbrel, which worked well for about 6 weeks and Kineret, which didn't work at all for me. I feel lucky with my Drs. They seem to listen to each other and my RD is taking a very pro-active agressive stance against the dragon. He's wanting me to go to the Cleveland Clinic for a second opinion and perhaps some research drugs. Sorry this got so long... welcome to the group! It's a great new home! Oh yeah...I took Tramadol for about the 1st 3 weeks of this thing. It worked for about 2, then my pain outgrew it. Introducing myself! Hello to all! I'm a new member and wanted to introduce myself. I'm Ann Heath and have had Adult Onset Still's for almost 4 years. I started with the fever work-up then got the joint pain and finally got the diagnosis of Stills. I'm a family practice doc (currently on medical leave) on a Navajo reservation in the mountains of western New Mexico. I have a lot of patients with rheumatoid so between that and my own experience, I'm pretty familiar with most of the RA/Still's meds and would be happy to answer any ?s if I can help anyone. I've been on most of the meds-Plaquenil, Arava, Enbrel, Humira, Orencia. Right now, I'm on MTX, pred, and getting ready to start on Rituxan. Been through 1 rheumy in Albuquerque who was a b###head then went to Mayo in AZ (yuck!!!) and now have a good rheumy at the University in Albuquerque. I'm 50 and my b-day is August 31. I still enjoy my dogs (we rescue and try to find homes but end up expanding our family often ), cats (we have some Munchkins-short legged cats-way cute!!, horses, and even a donkey who adopted us. I enjoy reading, taking pictures, and being outside as I'm able. It's great to have a group of people who understand what this disease does to your life! Thanks!!! Guest guest
Welcome to the group Ann - Now we have a doctor in our midst - all we need is a lawyer and Indian Chief!~ I am finding it interesting that when I first got Stills in 1998/99, most of the people on this loop were young and I was in my late 40's at the time. Now I'm seeing more older folks like me. Interesting. Hope you're having a painfree day today Ann.
