Guest guest
Dear Barbara, I was on Gleevec for about two months when I went into liver failure. This happens to a very small population of CMLers. At that time Sprycel was not yet FDA approved in America so you could say I was put on permanent Gleevec vacation. I had to wait approx 3 months before Sprycel was available. I was put on the standard dose of 70 mg bid. Way to strong for my body. Just about wiped out my platlets. So I was on another vacation until the marrow could recover. So the drs confered and it was decided that they would start me on the lowest dose 20mg bid. With that low dose I am a walking miracle. My last PCR revealed Leukemia cells were undetectable. It is a up and down journey and I understand how nervous you get being off medications. But the doctors will get is straightened out and you will be fine. I too have had weight gain on Sprycel. When I complain I think what am I conplaining about when this little white pill is doing miracle in my body. Good luck to you and yours. I will be celebrating my 5th anniversary with cml in November.
