Guest guest
Hi Kathleen, You mentioned that you take a product called JNT-A, from Natures Sunshine, and that it helped with your leg pain. But from your description I'm not sure if it's the same trouble I'm having. The back of my legs, especially behind my knees, feel unbelievable tight, and it's very painful to stretch them out. Is this the same problem? I'm hoping this product will have the same beneficial effects for me. Thanks,
Guest guest
, Is the tightness like if you keep one leg straight, and kneel forward with the other leg or try to stretch your leg over your head while lying down (without bending the knees?) If this is the case, It happens to me when I have the menengitis symptoms which create pressure on my vertibrae (sp?). The inflamed nerves do the tighT. pERCOSET HELPS ME FOR THAT AND MUSCLE RELAXERS
Guest guest
I am becoming very disturbed by the number of people in this group who are taking percoset for pain. This is a highly addictive drug. I know how unbearable the pain from Lyme disease can be but it seems like doctors are reverting back to the 70's and early 80's when percoset was prescribed like candy. Please, fellow lyme suffers, be careful with this drug. Mona
Guest guest
, How long to the doctors expect this condition to last? Where is the pinched nerve, anyway? I assume they checked to see that the circulation in the foot is good. My foot used to go to sleep a lot when I crossed my legs. Once I sat too long in a restaurant working a crossword with my legs crossed, and when I got up, my ankle turned and I broke the big bone in my foot. It took over a year to mend. It wasn't painful, but you're right, it was embarrassing when I fell down and spilled the contents of my big messy purse all over the floor. The brace is a good idea until you're sure that the condition has cleared up! Being in a walking cast for a year was not my idea of fun, and it forced me to buy a car with auto- matic transmission because I couldn't work a clutch anymore. You have my sympathy. I hope it clears up soon. Ann
Guest guest
Dear , I am sorry about the pinched nerve or whatevertheboogeritis in your ankle and leg. But focus on the fact that aside from that, you are feeling well. and I think that is terrific. As far as the falling down goes, I guess my feeling is that when I had my full body MRI in Houston in 93 and was in the waiting room, I was the ONLY ONE in there walking without a walker, crutch or in a wheelchair. I always remember that picture and know how blessed I am. If you fall down, you are able to get up!!!!!!!! Think of those who cannot. And besides, if you and I got to feeling too terribly good, I think our egos would make us unbearable to be around. A little humbleness probably doesn't hurt either of us....LOL Seriously, be well soon. Guest guest
, your key comment was " If it wasn't for the leg and foot pain the rest of my joints feel good! " With these diseases, there often is a sense of something always being wrong. But you have just said you feel well aside from the pinched nerve, and this is reason to CELELBRATE! I think we have to change our expectations and learn to focus on what is good. The other positive thing is that this current problem is not permanent. Try not to get down; you'll feel better soon. Guest guest
I've had problems of this sort a few times. I have a couple of pairs of compression stockings that help me, and I add a knee Ace bandage. I don't know if it will help you, but it certainly helps me. I've found that anything can happen at any time. Today I mowed some of the yard, but last week I couldn't even walk 50 feet. It's like a box of chocolates... Guest guest
A couple days ago I was reading about hip problems in relationship to osteo. It said that a hip can cause pains in the groin area. I hunted that down because when I try to do my exercise after about 30 seconds I get a groin pain that just stops me. If I take a pain pill or even Motrin half an hour before I exercise I do better. I asked my rheumi about that but it didn't get discussed. And speaking of rheumi I saw my new one yesterday. We covered a lot of territory and it's no surprise that we missed some things. The other rheumi I went to sent a report to my doctor that she didn't find anything wrong with me. To do that she had to totally ignore lab findings as well as looking with her eyes. This new doctor did a minor nerve check on my feet and lower legs and said I have severe advanced neuropathy. She gave me lab slips for about 30 things they are to check. I'm sure glad I have medical coverage. We did not discuss Raynauds but I'm positive I have it. Recently when I had the eye surgery during the surgery I was half awake and kept hearing the alarms going off. I was awake enough to comment on it and they told me it was the oxygen alarm. Then they turned the alarm off. Coming out the Anesthesiologist said that I have severe Raynauds and that I should get that taken care of. About half the time the oxygen clips " don't work " . It seems funny to me that with me they don't work, but work for others. In the big picture I don't think it really matters about the Raynauds. She said my neurapathy was diabetic neurapthy is from diabetes. I don't agree for a number of reasons. But it looks like I am off to a better start with this doctor. Guest guest
I think it is best to find a food to thin the blood, when I was researching my drugs for my heart , aspririn was the first to go. I take about 1 a week or every 10 days, unless I have a bad heart day, then I take 2. POSS RISKS: The blood thinning is the plus, but here is the negative......from my PDR......Poss risks: stomach irritation, bleeding and or ulceration, hearing loss, decreased WBC's and platelets, and hemolytic anemia... WORKS BY: reducing the prostaglandins by modifying the temperature regulating center in the brain, dialates blood vessels, and increases sweating. It prevents the production of thromboxane in blood platelets so it inhibits formation of blood clots........ POSS EFFECTS on BLOOD tests: It can lower RBC's, hemaglovin and WBC & platelets, prolonged bleeding time, decreased blood glucose, blood uric acid raise with small doses lowers it in large doses. raised liver function and kidney function, long term use can increase protein and kidney cells in uring. Increase thyroid funtion tests, T3 uptake and Free T3, and Free T4, and decreased TSH , T3, T4, F7I, urine sugar false positive, and fecal blood positive in large doses. Can also decrease effects of beta blockers and spironolactone......... So, anyway, a year ago, for my heart, I was on : 1 aspirin a day 2 coreg's a day, ....25 mg each, the highest dose 2 lisinopril a day......10 mg each 1 metolozone a day 1 lasix a day 1 spironolactone a day 1 senior vitamin a day 1 co-Q 10 150mg a day then added til I got sick, you dont give it to one with heart trouble, Elevil 3 donnatal a day NO WONDER ...............I was so toxic ! ! ! on top of silicone ! ! ! and genetically modified and pesticided food ! ! ! I am down to : 2 coreg in low dose 6.25 mg each 1 10 mg lisinopril 1 senior vitamin 1 co q 10 150 mg 2.000 mg of flax oil and now i have the calcium, mag and zinc to start, but I want to be sure all my changes are ok for awhile. It is amazing...........I was money in their pocket ! ! and getting sicker and sicker ! ! NOT NOW.......I am on my way to the best health possible for me ! ! ! ................big hugs.......and blessings ~ Dede AOL now offers free email to everyone. Guest guest
, Blood clots seldom occur in both legs at the same time . . . Taking additional Calcium/Magnesium/Vitamin D can help with muscle pain because the muscles need Magnesium. Turkey Rubarb is a herb that stimulates the liver, encouraging it to release toxins. I've had deep vein thrombosis - both legs at separate times. . . Anyone who has recently had surgery should be on guard. Don't sit for extended periods - like in an airplane! . . . Symptoms are leg swelling and discoloration. . . Pain can extend to back. Taking a small asprin daily helps thin the blood just a bit and can prevent blood clots. Guest guest
Thank you Rogene, you are correct in that the pain would be in one place. We had a friend who complained about pain in his leg, and he did nothing...he has died from DVP. Sitting at the computer for long periods of time is also the cause of many DVTs. Guest guest
Lea, What is DVP? I still have some neuropathy in my feet that is more intense at some times than others. Guest guest
Sorry, honey, I meant to say DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis). My feet caused me so much pain and the burning was awful. The burning seems to have gone, but my feet are still painful, I can hardly stand the weight of the blankets on my feet. Dr. Blais explained why this has happened, but I have forgotten. We should kidnap him for a while, but I guess that would be illegal. Time will heal most all of these symptoms...the stress that we go through is causing many problems. Who would not be stressed out after what they have done to us?
