Guest guest
I know that plateaus are normal and I hit many on my way down, however, I am wondering if anyone lost for the first month (about 24 lbs) then stopped and lost nothing the second month?? If so, what happened after that? My friend who doesn't post - but does read is experiencing this and even I who am 2 years out am beginning to wonder. Would love to hear from someone who expereinced this. Guest guest
I had my op the week after you, and I have had plateaus of three weeks twice. Hopefully, I will keep losing, although it might not be as rapid as I would like. This will be a blessing in the long run, I think. No need to hurry. You are probably just on a plateau. Guest guest
Mine wasn't the second month but 1/2 of the first month.... then I lost fine the second month. I would not panic unless it goes on for an extended period of time. Even if she doesn't lose anything the second month I think she is doing fine. I lost a total of about 20 pounds the first two months because of my " slow " first month. in GA Re: Re: HELP!!!! Guest guest
I lost very little the first month and did better on the second month. The important thing to remember here is that it is all normal. We are all different and our bodies all respond differently. You will lose the weight if you follow the instructions and do use the tool as Dr. R has instructed us to do. good luck on your journey and measure when you don't weigh. in SC
Guest guest
Hi Faye, I'm going to tell you what Dr. R says alot but is often ignored for various reasons... " get rid of the scale " . I know I know there are alot of issues associated with the scale. I didn't weigh at all except for when I had to at 3, 6 months and then at the one year mark. Of course, I always thought the scale my enemy and definitely NOT a friend so I didn't have one for years. Anyway, just my two cents. Guest guest
, Hair loss is pretty normal. Are you taking your supplements? In particular ZMA and biotin? These two can help greatly. As for the weight loss.... have you been keeping a measurement record? Has that stayed the same? Are you clothes fitting different? During plateaus, your body can and does continue to change and adjust. Are you getting enough Protein? Try upping your protein intake. Sometimes if you aren't getting enough protein, your body will just stop losing weight. Hugs, LyndaV 296/168 Re: HELP!!!! Guest guest
Hi , I'm there right now. I've had 2 plateaus of no losing but have lost inches instead. Going through one right now. I have now lost 4 inches in my bust, 9 inches in my waist, 7.5 inches in my hips, 2 inches in my upper arm, 1 inch in my wrist, 6 inches in my upper thigh, 5 inches in my knee, and 1.25 inches in my ankle. I've lost 65 pounds. It's OK! You will start losing again. Your body is just resting and figuring out what it needs to do next for the next part of the adventure of losing weight. Measure and keep a spread sheet of how your spread is not spreading any more but is shrinking! When I'm not losing, this keeps me going knowing that the inches are coming off instead. Hair loss...alas, I don't have any good news for you here. I've been losing since the end of June. It's a lot and I have thin hair. Took supplements and have added the Nioxin vitamin for hair growth. Also used the Nioxin stuff for hair but it has not decreased and have used it since the end of June. I'm considering Minoxidil. , These are some links and some information from the web site (clos.net) I hope this will help you during this stress time for us ladies! D. Delayed Loss from Stress: Telogen effluvium is a slowing of new hair growth resulting from sudden severe stress, followed by a delayed shedding of hair. The stress induces a high proportion of follicles to enter the resting stage, and a few months after the stressful event, all of the resting follicles begin to shed hairs at about the same time. Click here: Recommendations Minoxidil & Women
Guest guest
, I think everyone is different and your friends pause in weight loss is nothing to worry about. I only lost 9 lbs the first month, 10 lbs the 2nd month and then 15 lbs the 3rd month. I only weigh once a month and that is on my surgery date. This way I just don't think about it and worry if I go a couple of weeks and do not lose. Hope this helps. God Bless Connie (Va)
Guest guest
Good to hear from you Connie. I hope you and are doing well. My weight loss has been the opposite of yours. I lost big the first month, then more slowly each additional month. Today makes our four month anniversary, so I'll be filing a report today, and it looks like maybe 5 pounds lost for the fourth month. That's fine with me, though, because I'm not in a big hurry. Hope to see you soon, wishing you continued success with the MGB, F. Potter Re: Re: HELP!!!! , I think everyone is different and your friends pause in weight loss is nothing to worry about. Guest guest
Hey Everyone! DO NOT get upset if you stop losing. I stopped losing about 7 months out and did not start losing for another 8 or 9 months. I was thinking about having a revision, but out of no-where I started again from 185 and now I am down to about 140. I have gained a few pounds in the last week because I am trying to go off some of my " old " medication for high blood-pressure and swelling that I've taken for 3 1/2 years. I think I am retaining water because my body is so used to the medication to lose the extra water out of my ankles. Anyway, my main point is, just do lke Dr. R says, " Just relax, throw out the scale, you know if you are doing the things that you are supposed to be doing and eating, getting all your vitamins and fluids....and just enjoy the ride. " Anyway, I have slowly, but surely come down on the sclaed and in my clothes so DON " T FRET if you stop losing for awhile. Have a litle faith! Angels on your Pillows, DR. Guest guest
Just thought I would chime in on the weight loss. I boo hooed to Dana about not losing anything for 2 months - I told her I had figured out my calorie intake and how could I not be losing I would have lost weight if I ate that little before the surgery. I was talking about dieting - watching what I eat maybe slim fast for a week to get started again. Her advice was great. Stop dieting, stop thinking about dieting and what you are eating. Eat food with fat in it, meat, french fries, Pizza lots of Pizza. Stop thinking about it. Well I did and for the first time in 8 weeks I lost. I was not burning any fat because all I was putting in was salad and worried that Power Ade had too many calories. Well results I lost 7 pounds in 6 days, I feel better. Now granted it took me two meals to eat 6 oz of steak but it was good. I had KFC popcorn chicken, french fries, hot dog at the Yankee game, ice cream, potato chips and chocolate covered raisins. Oh my god I am reading this back and this sounds like I have gone over the edge. But you know when I say I had potato chips I have five and I am full. I had half of a baked potato with butter and sour cream I needed to lay down. One piece of pizza took me one hour to eat and I had the hot dog over 9 innings. Dana's advise was right for me anyway. I am also going to try to stay away from that scale and not step on it a few times a day. Try this. Dr. R and Dana are right - don't obsess it is less stressful. Guest guest
Have you tried Chromium Picontilate? I take about 400 mg twice a day and that controls the cravings. I started at that dose three times a day, and after a week the cravings were much better. you are supposed to take it 1 hour before you eat, but that made me sick, so I take it with food and I feel much better. Nothing else has worked for me. Hope that helps, Hanida
Guest guest
, I take glutamine, in a powder form, for my sugar/alcohol/carb cravings. A tsp, dissolved on the tongue, really works for me. I also try to take at least 3000 mg amino acids daily but I'm not always consistent. I know that they work, because I feel much better when I am consistent. I'm fighting the weight thing also, I really hate this stuff... > I am having so much trouble staying on this eating program! Guest guest
Hi, . I've lost 41 pounds since May 1st and the trick for me was to put myself on 1200/day calories; and think of it as a health plan rather than a diet to lose weight. It has helped my determination to remain on it for the rest of my life. I eat small amounts every couple of hours to keep from getting dizzy or sick feeling. I write down everything I put in my mouth, including vitamins, water or medicine. Got used to the calorie counts very shortly so I didn't have to keep looking everything up. I also keep a list handy of the things I can eat for shopping purposes. It will included good places to eat out eventually. Hope this helps. Guest guest
Kathy, That sounds like a really good idea! If you don't mind me asking, what is on your shopping list? I would love to use it as a starting point for my own if you wouldn't mind sharing. Plus, I think if I reduced my calories, and sugar and wheat, my husband would have to do the same (b/c I cook) and he wants to lose weight too. Now if I could only find time to exercise!! --who is crying inside because she is surrounded by donuts and reese's christmas trees that she cannot eat. Guest guest
I Have to face my first holiday party tomorrow evening, and I am scared silly. I have not cheated in over a month, but I have NEVER been able to go to a party and not eat forbidden food! No self control at all! I think I will try visualization. Maybe if I think of my candidia as that plant from " the little shop of horrors, " I might not be so inclined to feed it. After all the more sugar I feed it, the bigger it will get! That might do the trick! Good luck making it through the rest of the holidays! Hanida
