Guest guest
Dear Jackie, I am sorry that you have to join this group under your circumstances. That said this group is a wealth of information, comfort, support, and just a shoulder to cry on. I was diagnosed in 11-05 and remember well the overwhelming feeling of now what? I remeber getting so much information that my husband and I could not take it all in. I always write down my questions before going to the onocologist as I am sure to forget otherwise. No question is to silly to ask. This is new territory for you. Life will be on edge for awhile until you have a plan with you onocologist and how he is going to treat you. If we have to have Leukemia this is the one to have as we are on the breaking edge of treatments. Many of our members have lived years and years with Gleevec. I am on the lowest dose of Sprycel 20 mg bid and this is working for me for over two years. Do not get discouraged if there are ups and downs, there will be until things calm down and your body adjusts to the meds. My worst side effect is weight gain but what are the alternatives. I may be 20 pounds heavier than I like but it is a small price to pay for PCRU that means that leukemia cells are undecteable. On bit of advice is if you need a bone marrow, I always ask to be given a twilight sleep, that was I am semiconcious but don't give a hoot what is happening. God Bless you and yours, things will get better soon. carolyn_kuptz2000@...
