Guest guest
goodness gracious...where do you find the energy to climb anything? I have NO energy and if I had to climb a wall, well let's just say, I would STILL be at the bottom, lol. Glad you are doing so well though. I posted a few pics on the photo folder to show the newcomers they don't have to give up on having fun. Back to the office I had a sore throat and was a bit sneezing what was freaking out some of my colleagues who feared the pig flu. I had this small cold I couldn't shake out for a couple of weeks but no fever so it couldn't be the flu. But to ease my co-worker's stress (they don't know I have cml) I took most of the week off and I am feeling good now, just came back from the climbing wall, not my best session ever, a little puffing, stayed away from the 5.12s, but not so bad either. Guest guest
Hi , I really think it's a snowball thing, more you exercise easier it gets, no matter from where you start, as long as the exercise is adapted. I used to be real tired when I started gleevec and at first it was hard to do much, but after some everyday walking around downtown and then in the hills above Palo Alto it started getting better. It takes some time, I am still improving after 4 years. I am not too much of a health/nutrition nut, but I know the body makes a lot of good things when we exercise. This last year I upped a bit my regimen and I lost all the excess fluid and some fat I had added since dx and I am down to 165lbs, about 10-15lbs below my fit weight when I was 25. It may just be it is harder to muscle up at 42 than at 20, gleevec may or may not have something to do also, I dunno and I don't really care all that much, I feel reasonably good and being a bit on the light side is not a bad thing for climbing. Actually I was comparing more than well with the 2 healthy Stanford students I was climbing with this week-end, what was balm to my male ego Marcos. Guest guest
You go Marcos!!!! That is wonderful for new members to know that life doesn't have to stop because of cml. It gives us (5 yrs since dx) inspiration that exercise really does help. I'm still trying to work it into my - schedule. As a nurse once told me, it's part of our medicine. Guest guest
Hi , No I haven't seen any drs for cml at Stanford. I have been there before for injury and had a very bad experience there. If I need to see a cml specialist here in the bay area I d rather go to UCSF. Marcos. Guest guest
A number of folks in my LLS-sponsored support group in Oakland say the same thing. I always assumed Stanford was the premiere place to go for all things medical but apparently not! From: montereyunderwater@...
