Guest guest
Theresa, Glad they put you on the meds until your rheumy visit. You should be feeling much better with the Prednisone. It usually gets you moving, but not a good idea. Yep, pampering sounds good to me:) Take care, and let us know how your appointment goes, Tawny
Guest guest
So what was causing the pain in your stomach??? _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of wendyphillips54 Sent: Wednesday, July 01, 2009 7:52 PM Subject: [ ] Trip to the ER I called my Dr this morning after having an awful night. I had severe diarrhea that started about 4am and nausea and severe abdominal pain just like I had when I went to the ER and was dx with CML. This has been the first attack I have had like this since I was diagnosed. I went to the ER and I was dehydrated again so they gave me some fluids and something for the pain. Actually they gave me morphine first and 30 minutes later, I was still in a lot of pain so they gave me delaudid (not sure if I spelled that right). That took care of the pain but I was still very tender in my abdomen. The Dr came in and said that my WBC was 45,000 but all my other blood work looked good. I have NEVER been a cold natured person but I had to get under 2 blankets that just came out of the warmer just to get warm enough that I wasn't miserable. He sent me home with a prescription for pepcid and something for pain and inflamation if I need it. So far, I feel ok except for being so tired feeling and cold. Thanks for all your prayers! Guest guest
- did they do a stool culture? I had similar symptoms recently and found I actually had camphylobacter (gastro) which had superimposed in my gut. I do have inflammatory bowel disease which flares up from time to time and had a culture 3 weeks earlier which showed nothing then the next episode showed this bug which is normally a type of gastro which has to be reported, but in my case didn't need to. I didn't have a fever, just awful pains in the gut, nausea, diarrhoea, bloating and felt like crap and huddled in my bed with the electric blanket on as I was cold. It did resolve by itself with immodium and the help of Endone for the pain, but previously I've had to take Flagyl and Amoxillicin to clear these episodes up. Now I have to have an endoscopy and colonoscopy to follow up. Hope you feel better soon and your Dr can get to the " bottom " of it all - pardon my pun. Guest guest
, I agree with and Sharon. There has to be a reason for the pain and other symptons. What tests did your doctor run on you? Any xrays done? I am so happy to hear from you. I was worried. God Bless you! Get well soon. Jackie S. Guest guest
Hi : Are you saying they just gave you some Pepcid and sent you home without checking further. What actually is anyone doing for you with regard to the high WBC and Gastro problem? They should have done a stool culture and other testing. I hope your feeling better, but it just does not seem right since you were just in the hospital. Just my opinion.
Guest guest
All they did was blood work and gave me some fluids. I was dehydrated again but all they did for the abdominal pain was give me pain meds thru an IV and then gave me a prescription for some. I just don't feel good though but I go see my oncology Dr on Monday and we are gonna have a heart to heart because I am so tired of being put off and thinking all this pain is in my head. It's just very frustrating. Thank you for thinking of me Jackie. Guest guest
No they didn't . They did a urine specimen on me but nothing to check for abnormalties in my bowels. I am still very tender in my abdomen but I am going to my oncologist on Monday am so hopefully he will get me in somewhere so they can get to the bottom of this. It is driving me nuts...not that I have far to go...but it is really getting on my last nerve. Guest guest
Hi , I hope you get some answers soon. Your body needs to be free of pain so that it can heal. This group has given you some very good advice on what care to take. It's awesome!! You take care and follow the RICE method. I love that. God Bless, Jackie S.
