Guest guest
rosemary.... the immunosuppressants lower your wbc...thats the purpose..... White cells ..leukocytes.... are the basis of your immune system..... so imuran , prednisone , whatever.... suppresses them in an effort to keep them from attacking your liver cells jerry Do any of ya'll have low white blood cell counts? This week my wbc is 5700. I am concern at how fast my wbc is falling. Should I be concerned or is thia normal. Thank you for your time, > > > > Hi : > > Please get involved in our group. Guest guest
Perfectly normal! I the early days this surprised and scared a lot of the ONCs, especially when it goes really low. This is, however, expected, normal and not a problem in most cases. There is actually a ratio of some of your counts that you ONC follows for your safety. > > > > > > Hi : > > > Please get involved in our group. Guest guest
Wish I had a good answer for you. I was hoping you were going to say she had a virus because that can cause low WBC's. Unfortunately some people (like Hannah & myself) have low WBCs all the time. It goes with autoimmune diseases. Maybe one of our lovely nurses will chime in. Hang in there!!!!! Guest guest
n, My inflammation keeps mine low. I am on no meds to really lower mine. The only " natural " thing I know is to push optimal nutrition. Maybe vitamins. Maybe a trip to the health food store? There are drugs like Epogen that are injections that will raise wbc's. These are used by cancer and kidney failure patients. A drug like this would be prescribed by a hematologist/oncologist. Hope it comes up. Guest guest
Yrah nure'ies' I too tend to run a low wbc due to what the doctor call it, felties symdrome. I probably spelt the word wrong but it affects the spline.... Of course we know that infections cause elevated wbc as well as extreme levels of stress. Anyways thats my take on it.... Rusty Old One!
