Guest guest
, I don't have any advice on the weight gain, but I'm delighted to hear you are in good hands now. I firmly believe that a doctor who knows their stuff, is willing to follow through, and cares about their patient is a huge factor in the battle we are in. Good luck! Beth [ ] Interesting Drs appt!!! Well, I went to the Dr today...the one that came to see me while I was in the hospital this last time and I think I have a very good Dr now. I THOUGHT the last one was good but Dr brought to my attention today that the BMB report that I have and have had since I was diagnosed with CML is not complete. He was looking for some " important " information on it and it wasn't on there. Now I was seeing a Dr in SC since I was diagnosed with CML and he looked at the same report that Dr looked at today and it's funny but he NEVER mentioned to me that it was not a complete report. I had NO idea it wasn't complete since all this is new to me. Dr had his secretary call the hospital where the BMB was done and request the rest of the report. It's amazing how some Drs seem to really care about their patients and others just look at us like a piece of money or an assembly line. Dr trained at Mayo clinic and he sounds like he really knows his stuff when it comes to CML. He is the ONLY Dr that has mentioned anything to me about a mutation cell test. He said after I am on Gleevec 400mg for 3 months, if it is not continuing to bring my wbc down then he will do a mutation cell test to see if my body is absorbing the Gleevec....does that sound right? My memory is not real good and hasn't been for a while now but I'm not sure if it has anything to do with CML or if it's depression. Anyway, I just wanted to mention the fact that I have been treated all this time without having a COMPLETE report of my BMB. Maybe I will continue to get better now. Oh, another interesting thing happened...I am shrinking in height, lol. I was 5'8 " a few years ago and they measured me today and I am only 5'6 1/2 " ...does CML cause that too? lol...When they measured me in SC on my first visit there I was 5'7 " . Makes no sense to me!!! I have been losing weight since I was diagnosed too but today I have gained almost 3 pounds back of the 36 that I lost. I am not too happy about that...I like losing it, I don't want to gain weight! Any ideas on how I can keep from gaining anymore back? Take care everyone... Guest guest
Hi , my grandson told me the other day, Nana, you have been on a diet as long as I can remember, and he is 26 and he is correct. Over 26 years, in fact, about 40. I am not to successful at it, but I like to think if I did not at least try, I would weigh about 350 lbs. by now. Being not quite 80 I am prone to tell myself, don't worry, be happy, and eat what I want. Guest guest
Lol Bobby...my philosophy was always...God didn't intend on everyone being skinny so I may as well be one of the fat ones! Of course, in my heart it was killing me to say that because I have had a weight problem since I was 16 years old and have been on every diet out there but as most people with weight problems, I would lose and then end up gaining back more in the end. So now I just try to listen to my husband and he thinks I am perfect just the way I am so as long as he is not disgusted by the extra weight then that is all that matters. I am not huge but I do have several extra pounds that I would love to lose! > > > Hello , > So happy to hear you have a DR. that is concerned with your health and your > CML. > Weight Gain is an issue with most all of us whether you are on Gleevic or > Sprycel. > There is a CML weight chat site that one of the ladies here has started if > you are interested the site is LosingWeightWithCML @groups. com<LosingWeightWithCM L%40groups. com> > > Anita > > ____________ _________ _________ __ > > From: wendyphillips54 <wendyphillips54<wendyphillips54% 40> > > > groups (DOT) com <%40groups .com> > Sent: Thursday, June 25, 2009 11:18:38 PM > Subject: [ ] Interesting Drs appt!!! > > Well, I went to the Dr today...the one that came to see me while I was in > the hospital this last time and I think I have a very good Dr now.
