Guest guest
I can't say I ever did. In fact I haven't had a UTI since I started Gleevec in '05. They are an awful nuisance, aren't they? So uncomfortable. From: wendyphillips54@... Is that a side effect to the drug? I had one 2 weeks ago and now I have it again and I have never had them before in my life. I would appreciate any input on this. Guest guest
Very uncomfortable and annoying...can't pee but a spoon full at a time it seems but gotta go constantly! It's driving me crazy and having to get up and down so much with my bad knee is not fun either...wish I could just insert a catheter! Guest guest
My daughter had a UTI recently and they gave her a one-day prescription! It worked, to my amazement. From: wendyphillips54@... Guest guest
Hi , Yes i have had them i " m not sure if it's from the Gleevec, but the Dr. said as we age this happens i'm not sure how old you are but i'm 59 and he also said you have to drink plenty of water especially with the Gleevec. You didn't say if you were on antibiotics or if they sent your urine to be tested to see if you are on the right antibiotic. Guest guest
Hi Everyone- About the UTI, no i havent had one since gleevec but i suppose it can effect everyone different. Please be cautious of the antibiotic that is prescribed. My mother had a history of bladder problems and did self-cath in order to urinate, she was prescribed Nitrofuritain as a low dose anti-biotic to keep the UTI's in check. She developed severe lung problems we found out after double pneumonia and a lung biopsy was that this is a rare side effect from the Nitrofuritain. My Mom passed away from Pulmonary Fibrosis 5 yrs ago. Stay away from Nitrofuritain! Take Care Karyn
