Guest guest
Yes, I am constantly dehydrated since conracting Lyme and other people in my family were bitten and contracted Lyme the same time I did (tick infestation from dog groomers) and they are the same - no matter how much any of us drink - we are always dehydrated and also have hypotension because of low fluid volume -I've had to go to the hospital several times and receive saline to up the fluid volume in my body because of it ! I drink 12 glasses of water a day and still I am thirsty. Ridiculous. Reminds me of that refrigerator commercial where the lady is drinking all of that filtered water throughout the day. Speaking of which ... when I had one of my flare ups this last year I got a funny taste in my mouth. Any body have something like that? I couldn't get rid of it. Yucky! I had it again recently. Guest guest
I have been making herbal tea and using it cold - that has helped considerably. We live in the country with a well so I have water delivered monthly and that tastes better. You have got to stop the pop and go to water to flush your system of those impurities. I have noticed i feel a lot better after i have forced water down. Use a piece of lemon too sometimes that helps. Feel Good Bev

I also LOVE italian water ices...the best brand is Marino's - they have a terrific lemon, watermelon and orange.....really ICEY and not very sweet. I also use TONS of ice cubes in my drinks....they end up melting but I am getting the water I need. One of your meds could be causing the dry mouth, and you will probably have to keep a drink (bottle of water) with you at all times to sip as needed. This is what I do all the time. I don't go anywhere without my bottled water. (I would choke on the coughing if I didn't!) hope this helps! Fransea NJ Seashore

Maybe that has something to do with it. I know after I read that I no longer eat or drink anything that contains Nutrasweet and have noticed a slight improvement in some of my symptoms including the dehydrated feeling. I drink alot of regular pop and try to drink the sprots drinks and will resort to water if I have too. I am really bad about drinking water. Cant drink something with no flavor. HaHA. I know the sugar causes more yeast....but I would rather deal with that than get the stomach cramps and spasms and you know the rest. I cannot even drink a diet soda now without getting stomach cramps. I do, however, continue to put a packet of Equal on my salad when I have Italian dressing, and have no problems with that. Guest guest
Hi Nils, Glad to hear from you again, I missed you, good to know you are lurking and thanks for thinking of us as courageous, sometimes I think I am whining too much, but rallies in NY City and in Gettysburg PA remind me that we are trying to do something about our plight. Thanks too for the good info on dehydration with a Paris point of view. Big Hugs from USA, Marta From: taberg40@... <taberg40@...> Dans un courrier daté du 29/04/00 07:10:07 Paris, Madrid (heure d'été), lyme-aidegroups a écrit : << I always drink ENDLESS amounts of H2O (it's unreal, really), but still show signs of dehydration, and have been instructed to drink tonic water, without the gin ;o), amongst some other things. >> This is from a cloudy Paris, the one in France I am a grateful listener to the Lyme group and quite often I forward your messages to other groups with the caption << here is a quote from a group of very courageous people >>. Dehydration : Recently a study was published stating that rehydration was far more effective if instead of using water mixed with a very small pinch of salt and suger, you add rice water. Sounds OK does it not ? Well it is money down the drain, this was known by my grand-mother. What was the cure for diarrhea in the years 1940 ? However the main point is right, anybody suffering from dehydration has to check : does my body drink as a way to get rid of something that is in excess ? does my body drink because of something which is lacking ? A classic example of thirst induced by poison is alcohol, meat, and in some cases anything that your own body cannot handle, for instance sugar. I nearly forgot the third reason for dehydration, a feeling of thirst which has nothing to do with thirst. I you use antibiotics, but other products can do it, you may develop some kind of fungus on the tongue and you are " thirsty " . Drinking does nothing to cure it. If you try a " no eating period " you will experience the period when you are thirsty and the period when suddenly your body gets fed up of the whole thing and releases a lot of water. On the second day your tongue is covered with some with sticky stuff (candida albicans?) and you have a nice headache. It goes away on the fourth day. Here in France the problem of dehydration of very old people has been discussed on the Net. Contrarily to what I believed, it appears that death by dehydration is a kind death. well I would not advise anybody to try it. You think that authorities in the US are not helpful concerning Lyme ? Here we are far ahead. Ask anybody << what is the status of Lyme prevention and cure ? >> << lime what ??>> Nils, too tired to check the spelling, I got bugs while working on your funding feeding poor people in Africa, now I have to pay.
