Guest guest
I doubt it. As I understand it, Procrit and Aranesp are not standard medications for CML, other cancers yes, but cml, no. I believe if a cml'er goes below 8 they may consider the shots, that is what a nurse told me where i get my blood drawn.I'll check with her again Mon., especially if I go lower than 10.5. Guest guest
Hi Bobby, I just received an Aranesp injection. My hgb was 9. BC/BS will pay for it if my hgb is below normal. I am very fortunate. The dosage is 500mcg every 3 weeks. I hope you are able to get yours. Guest guest
Hi Jackie, a while back while on this subject Lottie gave us a number to call in regard to Aranesp shots and when you can get them, but I cant find it and will have to wait for her return from Houston. I hope she is home by now, she'll have it stored someplace! Guest guest
You are correct. My ONC told me that I needed to be on intravenous Chemo before the Insurance Companies would pay for Procrit or Aranesp. When I reached below 8 I would have transfusions and then we began the shots. As long as my RBC was less than 11 I could take the shot and any reading less I took Procrit weekly. I was fortunate enough to have the VA available and they agreed with my ONC to provide the assistance for payment of the procrit. Guest guest
hi,bobby/all, my onco told me because my hmg/hmocrit was low(9/30), should take a iron drip, that procrit alone would not last and i would have to keep taking it. the only way to raise the #s was to drip. i said would't i have to take the drip on a regular basis? silence! the only way she could justify a scrip for procrit is thru chronic kidney problems. my creatine level (kidney#s) is 1.8, which i didn't think was so high. since then she wrote the script. jean From: Rosen Lum <rrosenlumhotmail (DOT) com> Subject: [ ] High cost of shots groups (DOT) com Date: Tuesday, July 21, 2009, 1:39 PM I've been feeling sick at heart since hearing from Bobby how prohibitively expensive those shots are!
