Hi Sharon,

I have been on Sprycel since it was FDA Approved about 3 years now.

At first I was put on 70mg bid and that was so strong it just about wiped out my

bone marrow. I had to wait for that to recover and then was put on 20mg bid and

have been there since. It is true you have to be careful with antiacids. I

have acid reflux and it is basically untreated. I can take mylanta or a tums

two hours before or two hours after taking the sprycel and that is it. I do not

have gerd but I know the reflux can be nasty at times. Sprycel works with the

acid in your stomach and that is the reason you have to be very careful. The

only other side effect I have had is weight gain. I am PCRU and the ono is

estatic and I am. So, It sure does work. I do have a gastro man that works

with the ono as to the correct care of the acid reflux. Best of luck to you.

We are on the cutting edge of a cure I feel. God bless you and yours.

Carolyn,

Thanks for sharing your experience.Do you think I can continue to take the

Protonix while on Sprycel but just take it a couple hours apart from Sprycel. My

gastric bypass pouch is about 30cm in size and produces very little acid there.I

techniqually should not have acid reflux but I do have GERD and Chronic

Gastritis. There is no way that I can NOT treat this..I have to get scopes

regularly as I have a growth in my tiny pouch that they are monitoring for

caner. So far it is non cancerous.Hopefully everything will work out ok..

Thanks for the help

your Doctor. I can only give you my experiences. The one thing I have found

out is some doctors are not real up on Sprycel it being fairly new. My ono

admits he doesn't know all the answers but assured me if he is not sure he will

find out. He is in contact with the Medical College of Milwaukee and if they

don't know I have had them even check with Dr. Druker. Don't be afraid to ask

questions you are the patient and we are intitled to some answers. My niece

just at a Gastric bypass done. It is not an easy thing to do. She came through

the surgery well, but it is a whole new way of life. She is determined to make

this work. Feel free to ask questions anytime but always check with your doctor

also. This group can only give you our experiences.
