Guest guest
Hi , First of all congratulations on your new position! I cannot give you IV Chemo Certification, but I can give you one of my CE offerings that is all about Oncology. It has good information as to what medications are being used, what they are being used for and how do these drugs work in general. It is in easy to understand language specifically for the Pharmacy Technician. Anyways you mentioned you wanted to learn as much as possible and I think this would be a good step forward. I offer this lecture to you at no charge. If interested email me at the email address below. Good Luck! Joe Medina, CPhT http://www.techlectures.com email: joemedina@... Guest guest
, In order to compound chemotheraputics, even methotrexate inject., you muct be ASHP Cetified. It is not too hard to take either a 'brick and mortar' class or (in my opinion not the greatest of ideas) an online class to prepare you to take your level 4 HAZMAT Certification Test. All you really need to know is the proper way to handle radioactive chemotheraputics, most especially their disposal. You can get your ASHP & FED HAZMAT License by taking a class or two at your local community college and pasing the Fed. Exam. If you want more info.... I'm always here! Guest guest
Dear All, Thankyou Christian for your input, but it isonly fair that our readers KNOW that you are aspeaking of TEXAS and not for many other states. This is dictated by state regulation/laws, but mainly facility policy at this time. Most states do not require chemo certification, most hospital pharmacies provide their own training. I am saying this because I do not want a 'rash' of readers to ask where am I supposed to get chemo certified this ist the first I have heard of it. Also it isd VERY possible as USP 797 progresses that such IV and or Chemo Certification will be required. As long as it has a lab component to verify technique I would support it. Guest guest
Dear Zavie, I'm sure you won't be reading this for a while, going off on one of your jaunts again. Hope you bring us good news or some other type goodies. I'm keeping Ida company while you are gone. LOL I'm in the SKI 606 trial and it comes in a bottle. Glued right on top of everything is a warning that it is chemotherapy. I know you asked about Tasigna, but there are other drugs that patients might have some input on that, too. Happy traveling. Hands & hearts, Lottie
