Guest guest
Hi Sharon, I totally understand your frustration. But, a word to the wise. I seem unable to lose weight, too and have gained 30 pounds on Sprycel. However, I AM able to gain more weight! So, even though it doesn't seem to make any difference at times, I strongly recommend that you continue to diet as much as possible. At least it won't get worse that way. I also have lived on less than 1,000 calories per day and it didn't make any difference at all. It certainly doesn't seem fair, does it? One of the things that bothers me most is that I think other people must think that I really eat a lot and I don't! The best advice (in addition to continuing to diet) is to make your diet as variable as possible. I occasionally eat potatoes or pasta but very rarely. I also eat red meat very rarely. Suemmer makes dieting easier, of course, because of all the good fresh fruits and vegetables. In the winter I just revert to using frozen. If you watch youre diet I don't think you'll continue to gain. There should be a leveling off, if that helps. Best wishes, L Re: [ ] Sprycel Weight gain? Bobby, At age 80 I can understand not wanting to diet anymore after 40 years of attempts..I am only 41 and the additional weight gain is causing me trouble..I have more pain due to other health issues and I'm diabetic and my clothes don't fit..I live on Social security so money is hard to find so I can't just run out and buy new clothes..I'm running out of my old fat clothes..Feeling like crap about myself due to the weight gain..I have been dieting since I was about 8 years old..I have had two different Weight loss surgeries to help this..I have lost 170 pounds I don't want all my efforts to be a waste due to meds induced weight gain..Seems such a waste..I'm feeling desperate again and I don't like it..No bread pudding for me..lol.. This week I had a nice long talk with myself and decided, the hell with it, I will be 80 in Dec. I am not going to spend the rest of my life trying to do something I have not been able to do in 40 years, so I went out and bought a half gallon of Stoli, 4 limes and 6 bottles of tonic, and cooked a huge pot roast dinner, with apple caramel bread pudding and and when I weighed in a the U of Mich. I had gained 4 lbs. (maybe I overdid it with the bread pudding?)
