Guest guest
OH MY! Various doctors chased that pain around for many many years--and not one of them knew what it was until I got the the osteo-surgeon. Then he did not discuss it at all, he simply removed it! I had been told it was constipation, or ovaries, or IBS, or muscle spasms; and I have forgotten what all else they suggested. Nothing worked. Yes, I know what pain you are talking about, quite intimately. Soon, now! Hugs MargeSeems my left hip is on its way out, I am experiencing more and more groin pain. This particular pain started about 7 years (argh!) prior to my THR. Anyone else have or had these symptoms ? The pain feels like having fallen on ice and doing an involuntary split. Thanks all. Guest guest
I know the feeling of groin pain! My hip pain started in the groin also and at that time I had no idea what groin pain was associated with. Also, I was locking up in both sides right in that groin area and that was extremely painful and scary since I often could not get the locking undone right away. Finally when I saw my doc, he told me it was a hip issue and figured it was probably a mild bursitis. When that explanation didn't help, he finally said my pain was too much for just bursitis and they did x-rays which revealed dysplasia. I also had MRIs which showed advanced arthritis and torn labrums. I subsequently had arthroscopic surgeries to fix the tears, but again, things didn't get any better. That was a year ago, and since then then my arthritis progressed extremely fast and I have recently had both hips replaced. And it all started with groin pain! Many people I know tell me they have pain in the side of their hip, lower back, or butt, and they think it has to be their hip joint. When I tell them that hip pain is mostly in the groin area, they are surprised, and also surprised to hear that their pain may not be the hip joint at all! It's interesting how pain is referred, and sometimes makes it harder to figure out your own symptoms. When I had shoulder issues, a lot of my pain was in my deltoid muscle rather than the shoulder itself. I thought I had a broken bone in the arm, but I actually had rotator cuff injury that required surgery. Re: Groin pain OH MY! Guest guest
Marge, before it was finally decreed I had a terribly bad hip joint, they even made me go through a hernia operation for a hernia which was considered quite small and they couldnt figure out why all the pain so they went ahead with the surgery and I wound up with several months of " burning " skin above the pubic bone, so severe, it felt as if someone was holding a lit lighter to my skin. Bobby, if it is a pregnancy, you are going to have to leave the Vodka alone. When I was almost ready to deliver my last child, I had the same kind of pain similiar to what you described, but it also involved a muscle in my stomach, so we called the OB. I could not walk, and just writhed in pain. The doctor was at a party having a good time and was so sure I was going into labor, he stopped drinking and went home to hurry and sober up in case he had to go to the hospital. Believe me, he didn't let me forget it, either. When my little boy was about two, I was behind this same OB at the A & P. All he had in his basket was Vodka and he was complaining that the House of Representitaves was going to raise the taxes on booze. Leave that juice alone, the taxes are entirely too high, anyway, what do you think, Bob? Sympathetic to your pain, Lottie
Guest guest
Well, I'm beginning to think it's a prostrate problem. That would explain why she spells her name " Bobby " instead of " Bobbie " ..
