But then after I got this serious lung disease, I started to use whey to help feed the intestinal flora. I found that I did not have a reaction to that. Since it is 60-70% lactose, this made me wonder of course. So I asked them about that and got no answer to the question. Then I found out from another source that one could be allergic to or unable to digest well proteins. And that in milk is a protein called casein. That one could be very well unable to deal with that and it has the same reaction as lactose intolerance. I have found that taking some of the protein enzymes with it lowers this reaction. So that must be where the problem really is. Gene Downey

Even Lactaid milk. Anybody know this one? Lactose intolerants can usually eat yogurt as it's predigested. Might try it as a test. (I know it's tough to drink!) Guest guest
Dear Dory, Good detective work. Some things we have been eating and drinking all of our lives sometimes become our worst enemy as we age. There is probably just a minimal amount of powdered milk in the formula to use as a binder, sometimes the binder is cornstarch, which are the least innocuous ingredients to most humans. Some people are so allergic to peanuts and even soy that it is listed on the label that these ingredients were used in the same vats that other products are manufactured in. What are stereates used in vitamins and other OTC products, I haven't been able to find out? Read the labels, Lottie
