Dear ,

You should not have to run out of your drugs, there are several Patient

Advocates who help you with your drugs, you just have to google them and ask

around. I mentioned the name of one to my doctor and he didn't know about it,

but I gave him the name and address where cancer patients can get their meds and

he wrote it down. He said he could use it to help some of his patients.

WalMart has drugs for $4, call and ask them if the generic brand for Xanax is

one of them. St. de also gives drugs to needy persons, so you

should not be without your meds. I believe I already told you about PSI in

Virginia, but you have to call them and ask for an application. Keep it on hand

whether you are approved or not, it will make the waiting time much shorter.

I now find myself in the gap and will have to pay full price for my drugs

until I reach catastrophic stage. Oh joy. My husband uses asthma meds that the

VA will not fill a prescription for.

Hands & hearts,

Lottie Duthu

I have a script for Xanax. That's not a narcotic or "N" type drug. It's a controlled or "C" drug. They can call that in from the doc's office. Stuff like percoset, pain killers and such usually need hand written scripts brought into the drug store. The Xanax is just for anxiety, I hope it helps him.

If he's undetectable then he probably doesn't need a new regimen. I had low tcells for years. They just started going up recently. If the doc does change his meds, she has to see which drugs he is resistant to. This way she'll know what combo will work best for him.

Best of luck. I hope that he feels better, and that his Tcells improve.

Xanax

I mentioned here a while ago, well not that long ago, that my partner has been having some psychological issues. For the past three days, he has been on .50 mg of xanax two times per day, and this seems to be helping him. Are there others in here that are on this type of medication. It is considered a controlled substance and the physician could not send it electronically to the pharmacy, so it had to be brought in physically.

I pray for his health to improve. Sometimes I feel a little strange when by counts are close to 800 and und and he is und, but with a CD-4 count of 200 or less.

does anyone in here have any suggestions at all on how he can raise his cd-4 count. Right now, he is taking Truvada and Viramune. I believe that when he goes to the ID doctor on February 2nd, she will more likely than not change his medications.

The only thing I can share about Xanax is my belief (and there is some evidence to confirm this) that using prescriptions to address emotional / mental health issues should be done at the least with supervision / monitoring by a qualified mental health professional and in many cases ideally in conjunction with ongoing counseling. I’m going to go further out on a limb than I usually do with regard to your partners medications. I hope you’re right and the provider proposes an anti-viral medication change If the provider doesn’t, you should ask for a very clear explanation of why. For years providers at my clinic (a very good one) were hesitant to change medications as long as the patient had an undetectable viral load, because of worries about exhausting options and side effects. This has changed over the years and in the last two dramatically so. Newer meds are often just plain better all around – more potent, better at restoring CD4 counts, and fewer side effects. That being said there are two caveats:1) Treatment choices are ideally guided by resistance testing, and if your partner is undetectable that is one less piece of information the physician has to consider (but this seems less critical these days.) 2) Some folks simply don’t ever get to higher CD4 counts, regardless of treatment (and the reason why isn’t necessarily clear.) I personally have made three major regimen adjustments over the last 5 years. They variously gave me big improvement in convenience, potency and side effects. Moreover, I had been stuck at a CD4 count of around 200 for years, and now I consistently test at around 400 (with higher percentages, too!) I can’t promise that for your partner, but I’m sure there are options for seeking improvement. Take care, mark Mark Hubbard, Nashville TN 5. I started with zero T-cells. With HAART, I went up to 200-250 and stayed that way for years. I just broke 500. This is after 15 years. Be patient. Also, is there a support group in your neck of the woods? I think you both would benefit.LarryOn Jan 12, 2012, at 11:37 AM, bullhead3031 wrote:
