Guest guest
My MIL had shingles several years ago. I'm trying to remember but it seems like it was on her forehead. What I do remember is that the sites that erupted were extremely painful because it's in the nerve. They looked similar to the coldsores that developed from herpes eruptions. The thing that sticks in my mind the most is how extremely painful they were for her. My son developed a strange rash during the time we were dealing with his first episode of OCD. He had already had full blown symptoms for several months so I don't know if it was connected to the infection that triggered his OCD. The doctors could not figure out what it was from. He had all these varying sized raised whelps? (not sure how to describe them) on his torso. There were also a few small ones on his forehead that almost looked more like ringworm to the doc. We ended up with a prescription of ringworm med and cortizone cream. The ringworm med did nothing and the cortizone cream did, so it was obviously some type of immune related eruption. We never were able to determine whether it was from a virus, bacteria or something else. I don't know about the tests, but it would seem to me that if the antibiotics helped him that would point the suspicion towards some type of bacterial infection. Shingles is viral. The anti-virals that we use for are the type of meds that I think are used sometimes for chickenpox???
