Guest guest
Hello Tobi, I had a allogenic transplant 8/07 but my transplant was from my sister who was a match. I am not answering your question but I did want to share my experience. I have had 4 bone marrow biopsy's showing all donor (yeah) but my blood work has been (2) 1-100,000.00 (07-08), neg cells (2/09) yeah then 2-100,000.00 (8/09). My specialist suggested a leukocyte cell transfusion from donor with a risk of graft verus host (in 07 I had no gvf maybe slight rash) but I decided to wait. I go next week for follow up so we will see how it goes. With the flu activity growing I don't want to low my immune system again. My 13 yr old had the swine flu at the beginning of the month and it was hard to keep his 103 fever to go down. But he is good now and I escaped it that time. I do know if you do the autogenic your recovery time is quicker than a allogenic but I think the current immune system of others is something to think about. Keep asking questions everyone is different. I did well with my transplant hospitalized 27 days but was lucky I could commute 45 minutes from hospital. And my father stayed with me during the day for 3 months. Best of luck. ________________________________ From: Tobi <webbyoftheast@...> Sent: Sun, October 25, 2009 5:08:13 PM Subject: [ ] Transplant Has anyone undergone a bone marrow transplant doing an auto transplant and have shown signs of the CML growing again???? CML always comes back....you can't get rid of all the Ph+ cells. It used to be used, when there were not many treatment options, just to buy a little time....that was all. You don't give yourself a new immune system that can kill off the leukemia cells. C.
Guest guest
Hi Tobi, Autologous transplants are not typically done for CML because there is no graft vs leukemia effect with auto transplants and graft vs leukemia is the only way a transplant can cure CML. http://tinyurl.com/yfvoyq2 I only know of one case where a patient had an auto transplant and that was done in an effort to buy some time while they waited for another treatment to become available. It was never expected to be a cure. Guest guest
Hi . How old is your daughter? Being a mother of a daughter with CML, I know the worries, hopes, and fears that a parent feels. I pray that your daughter has success with her transplant.
