Dear ,

When Bobby says she is going to bring the donuts, she will expect you to

bring the Vodka, lime and tonic, that is what she calls her " coffee hour " and

that hour could even be breakfast. LOL

I hope you will get to meet her soon, the more she drinks, the funnier she

gets, so be prepared for an " hour " of fun and laughter. All joking aside, she

is one of the nicest persons with CML you will ever meet and she says it like it

is.

We like to kid her because she comes right back at you. One hour won't be

enough, so bring you lunch, just in case.

LOTTIE, I HAVE ALREADY MET GEORGE, AND I KNOW HE WON'T BELIEVE A WORD YOU SAY

ABOUT ME!!  BESIDES, HERE'S A THOUGHT:  A WEE BIT OF VODKA MIGHT MAKE THOSE

BMA/BMB PROCEDURES GO A LOT NICER!!  MAYBE THEY SHOULD CONSIDER REPLACING ALL

THOSE COFFEE BARS WITH COCKTAIL BARS.  AND AT U OF MICH THERE ARE ALWAYS LOVELY

AMISH LADIES PUSHING COFFEE CARTS, MAYBE WE COULD GET THEM TO SERVE SOME GOOD

OLD IRISH COFFEE, WITH SCONES, OF COURSE.  I'LL HAVE TO PUT THOSE IDEAS IN THEIR

Pam - Your first paragraph describes exactly my symptoms and outcome. The cough, chronic bronchitis, sinus surgery, coughing fits, unable to breathe/panic attack etc. I have been coughing myself ragged for longer than I can remember. Now my breathing is very shallow. It hits hardest of an evening when I try to clear my chest so I can breathe. So you have written about me and I can completely relate to what you are going through. I know just how weak you must feel. Because all of this weakens the body and sets us up for further infections.

When I saw the Anne of Green Gables movies (I have mentioned this once before - Canadian productions) Anne administers a Cough Expectorant to her best friend's dying little sister. I think the child had consumption. The Expectorant saves the little girls life. That was about 8-months ago that I immediately went to the local pharmacy and bought it. It is... Ipecac & Tolu Mixture. Being all natural I find I don't get the side effects of pharmaceutical cough expectorants. I used to get awful headaches with the others. Plus the Ipecac & Tolu Mixture costs only a 1/4 the price of the ones with the side effects. I find it does help shift the mucous. And I know it's not damaging my body with side effects like the others.

Outside of that the only hope we have of recovering our health is in our choice of foods. And the elimination of stressful situations. Problem people (outside of spouses who must be tamed at all costs - another story!) must be given permission to leave our lives as well. It sounds tough but outside of the chest problems my health has improved so much in all other areas. I have more energy and younger looking skin! Which I put down to my all natural diet. Except when I stray on to the forbidden path (LOL) of factory-adulterated-dead-disease inducing-so called foods. I think my current chest problems however are left over swine-flu related?! Plus I know I need to make other lifestyle changes.

About the foods we eat. I see my diet as unlimited rather than as limiting. Almost unlimited choices of fruits, vegetables, meats, fish, nuts, seeds, dairy (for those who can consume) preservative-free gluten-free selections. Plus others I can't think of right now. Those people (the "normals") who still consume the "crap" that modern food processors are dumping on unsuspecting people. They are the ones who are limited by their diet because they have no idea what the future holds for them... regarding their health.

Natural foods contain naturally-occurring chemicals from nature. Chemicals that are directed through our blood stream to every area of our body. Weakened areas in particular. Imagine the colours in our foods. The chemicals that colour the beetroot head off through the blood stream and target specific areas of the body. The beautiful green of the capsicum likewise. The watermelon, the pumpkin, the purple die in blackcurrants. All following their own little map of our body. How lucky are we that this is all done-in perfect unison without our knowledge in order to keep us healthy and alive.

Why am I being so verbal...so vocal. Well, I'm worried about my husband too. Sometimes he can't walk properly. We have to stop throughout our morning walk because his calf muscles seem to lock up. It is painful for him. Plus other symptoms that concern me. He gets the usual broken-record-player talk from me. Then he says, "you really believe all this, don't you?!" As usual I'll say to him... ", what did you eat yesterday?" He's just beginning to get it. Yesterday, he realized that the triple-smoked (purine, nitrite, nitrate ridden etc) block ham he had consumed the night before was backfiring on him. Also, the coke, the jatz, the dip, and the non ice-cream etc. So yesterday I said to him, don't worry about doctors labels or maybe it's this that or the other. Look to your diet. Ask yourself what have I eaten. Diet is everything. I think I'm getting through to him.

I'm sorry for the long email. I'll get off my soap-box. Rather... my HopeBox. Pam, it is hard to prepare foods when you feel so ill. If you can liquefy some healthy ingredients you can sip them slowly. You need superior nourishment to recover your strength. Please take good care. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Hugs & Cheers

>> Sue, > > My cough is not dry, it sounds very wet and rattley. I have chronic bronchitis, and when I get it, the cough stays. And stays and stays. I have had it for years at a time. I've even had sinus surgery in an attempt to rid myself of it. I sleep in a chair because laying down causes me to cough in fits. Last night I a scarey asthma attack woke me up--I couldn't breathe in or out, I'm fumbling on the table beside me for my inhaler, finally got it to my mouth, but couldn't breathe any of it in...I was thinking maybe it was the end. But then I talked myself out of the panic, was able to suck in a little at a time, and in about 30 seconds I was able to take some little ragged breaths. That's the worst attack I've had in years.> > I made chicken soup with my own broth. This time I put onions, garlic, carrots, and green beans in it (and chicken), and when I made the broth, I put sweet potatoes in there. So far it's not helping, but at least I look forward to eating it. I guess you're right that I need to make some bone broth. I don't have any, so need to make it, which takes a long time. Do you think the chicken soup is as good? Also, I will go looking for some cough syrup at the health food store. It's pouring down rain here, has been for the past 24 hours, so the roads are flooded everywhere. Also strong winds--this is the remnant of what used to be Hurricane Ida a couple days ago. Hi Carlene,

Thanks so much for your concern and for sharing your thoughts with me. I'm sitting here typing and coughing my head off at the same time. I have stayed home from Bible study tonight because the weather is so bad, it's still raining buckets and the temperature is dropping quickly now that the sun has gone down.

I'm not glad that you have the experience to say that you know what my cough is like, but I sure am glad to find someone else who has gone through this. I was beginning to think that I was the only one. Finally I have decided to cure myself since none of these doctors have been very successful at it. Today I have eaten two bowls of my chicken soup. I also juiced a couple of apples and a pomegranite and drank that. I hope I can sleep through the night tonight without having an asthma attack.

I have never heard of the Ipecac & Tolu Mixture cough expectorant, so I did a search for it on the Internet. I am unhappy to report that the only place I can find it is in Australia. Figures. If it's good for you, we wouldn't have it here. Nevertheless, I think I will order some. I can pretty much guarantee that I will still be coughing when it gets here.

He gets the usual broken-record- player talk from me.

It feels like its right in the middle of my chest, that there is some huge ball of mucous stuck there that will come flying out, if I could only cough just right. I have chronic bronchitis, and when I get it, the cough stays. And stays and stays. I have had it for years at a time. I've even had sinus surgery in an attempt to rid myself of it. My doctor sends me to ENTs, who send me to pulmonologists, who point back at the ENT, who point back at the pulmonologist, and on and on it goes. I tried a course of antibiotics, knowing that it wouldn't work, but tried it anyhow. I don't want to return to the doctor, even though I sound--and sometimes feel--like I'm dieing, because I will get more chest x-rays, more pills, more asthma meds, and Prednisone, which I loathe. I sleep in a chair

because laying down causes me to cough in fits. Also, I will go looking for some cough syrup at the health food

store. It's pouring down rain here, has been for the past 24 hours, so the roads are flooded everywhere. Also strong winds--this is the remnant of what used to be Hurricane Ida a couple days ago. I don't really want to go out in it, but I will.> > Hope everyone else is better than me. Forgive me for being absent. I'm not doing much computer stuff right now. All I do is sit here in this recliner chair, somewhat like a zombie.> > Pam
