Guest guest
Hi Bob, How was the lemonade? I like mine really sweet. Kind words really sweeten things for me. I have the heart failure but not the diabetese. Sugar isn't a problem with heart failure is it? I sure hope not. I don't drink lemonade but I sure do like my tea sweet. You do have a way with words and I just enjoy watching your messages come in. You sound so much perkier than when I first came on here. You must be feeling much better. Do you have trouble going uphill. When I walk with someone, I can't keep up pace with the average person and if there is a small upgrade, I call it cardiac hill and people just laugh at me but it sure doesn't take much of an incline to put me out of breath. How about you? But if I walk of flat surface and go slow, I can go pretty far, maybe 1/2 mile. How does it compare with your walking? Ruth in PA ATTENTION ARDEN R. Guest guest
hi ruth, thank you for the kind words as well. i honest to god dont understand what is going on with me. i feel better and better everyday. even the doc called me yesterday to tell my blood work looks better than it has in years. i go to that hospital rehab three days a week and they increase my resistance every week and i have no trouble with it. and at home i have this treadmill and i hooked it up with ifit.com and they customized an 8 week workout for me that i do the other 3 days a week. i take one day and relax. i asked the doctor why i am doing so well with an ejection fraction of 10. he said that is a medical mystery and has not solved by science yet. on the treadmill im doing half mile segments at 2.5 mph on a grade of six percent. our boat ramp is probably a 15 to 18 % grade and i can walk to the top of it, then stop for a minute before i walk the last 50feet to my truck. i often take my golf cart to the lake so i can park right by the dock and not have to walk the boat ramp. but i do make sure i walk that ramp several times a week. ive never added salt to my food and now i read labels. i found a sugar substitute called splenda that is better than real sugar i think. i need to get the diet thing under control here. and so far im failing at it. as far as my attitude i can attribute to the people in the zapper. they pulled right out of the big hole i was digging for myself. i thought i was a dead man, but now im going to go out kicking and screaming. keep making lemonade, bob in pa -- Re: Bob Hi Bob, How was the lemonade? Guest guest
Hi Bob, That's great that you are now feeling so well. My blood work recently showed my cholesteral and trygicerides are worse than they have ever been. And now I watch what I eat, not perfectly, but much better than I use to. I watch labels too and I take lipitor, so he doubled the lipitor. I did rehab at the hospital twice now and got a treadmill but haven't been walking on it lately. My legs get cramps a lot and the doctor doesn't seem to know what it is. He told me to take it easy a while to see if it gets better. They took blood work to see if the lipitor was breaking down the muscles but they said it wasn't. When I do the treadmill, I can go about 25 min. at 1.9. Can't go much faster than that and I can't do a grade at all. I have a scooter I use once in a while if I'm going to do a whole lot of walking. I can still do a lot of things though and am very thankful for that. Just have to go slow. Boy after going through some of this stuff we go through, it sure makes you appreciate every little thing more, doesn't it. My ejection fraction is around 25%. I have stamina but I just can't go fast. With your diet, what are you failing at, the fat or the sugar? You've got a double blow if you have diabetes too. These zapper people have been great for me too. I have learned so much on here. Guest guest
Hi Carmen: I was not talking about Instant Messages that you should accept. If you receive one from someone you know by all means accept it6 but if you don't know the person just delete them like I do. What I was talking about was all of the messages that are on THIS support group line are from members of the Stills group and yopu shouldn't be afraid to accept or read any of them as they have been checked for virus' and for being weirdo's so they are safe to read. That is another reason that you never see an attachment on this list as they are not allowed because they may carry a virus. What I did say is that if you see someone that you know on YOUR buddy list don't hesitate to contact them. Or also if you send a message out to this list asking for someone to talk to you will also be safe. If this is still not clear let me know and I will try again. Always willing to help!. Guest guest
In a message dated 6/15/2003 8:42:35 AM Mountain Daylight Time, truelori@... writes: You had posted some links from Sharla Race and Sue Dengate, as well as coopbookshop and dymocks (at least they appear in your post) I can't get any of those links to work, even when I type in the URLs. Lori, Go to http://tigmor.com/food/library/articles/bookrev.htm and look under Friendly Food and the Dymock's link is there. Go to Sue Dengate's site indexFedUp and there are links there to order her books, including FedUp with Asthma. anyway you said re: the studies at Scripps that "people with more severe disease may not respond to dietary changes." However, this was not a test of dietary changes. These were challenges to specific substances such as MSG and sulfites. And in those challenges they did not find any reactions whatsoever, symptomatically or in cell markers in blood or urine I am sure the studies from Scripps are helpful. But for the reasons I posted already, I still am not convinced that diet and or lifestyle is not a factor. I have another reason to believe this. I recently fasted for 3 weeks (distilled water, no food). I lost 22 lbs, which is exactly waht is predicted by people who are expert in fasting (about 1 lb per day of fast). My sense of smell came back for the first time in 26 years (on the 12 th day of the fast) without using any drugs. And I had it for about 3 weeks. It left after about 2 weeks of eating. I think it's possible that people (including myself) may benefit from low salicylate diets. I'm just saying that I have no idea what a low salicylate diet is, because the information is so confusing and contradictory. And in addition to that, I don't see how you can get all the nutrients you need from a low salicylate diet, because it seems every vegetable and fruit is on the list. Thanks Lori Have a look at the papers I cited, you could get them through interlibrary loan. Legumes, grains and rice are all allowed. As are many dairy products that are zero or very low.. So is celery and green cabbage. And there are other fruits and vegatables that are low, but not zero. I think you may have to take a vitamin C supplement while on a low salicylate diet. Probably crystals is best, because they are so pure. I agree, there is confusing and contradictory information. Good luck, Bob
Guest guest
Dearest Bob, thank you also for just caring and the up-lifting words that you wrote to me I miss you all so much, that it just hurts to not be able to communicate daily. I am lost without this group and when I cannot talk to you and keep up, it can become depressing, and this is what a support group is all about. I just love it here and have such a wonderful second family, that it helps me through my day. It gives me reason to live and hold hope, that you just want to give something back. I never would of made it this far today, without the help, and love of this support group, and I owe it to every individual here whom has made that possible for me. It is such a wonderful place to be. I love you Bob & Carole and I absolutely cannot wait to see you again in September. I am counting down the days until we can hug and cry together again. Thank you again, both of you. Love.Sue #2 -- My Birthday! Hi Gang: Thank Y'all for the good wishes for my Birthday, however I would like to correct one discrepancy which is I am 66 not 65. You are going to have to make some time for your self You may have to start working part time instead of full time whether you like it or not. You just can't go on like this. It is not good for you nor your Family. Have you discussed this with your Mom and Dad?
