Is Sprycel a blood thinner

Does anyone know if Sprycel is a blood thinner. I was thinking one of my Dr's

had told me this in the beginning

The reason I am asking:

I fillet'd my finger while gathering grapes to can a couple of weeks ago. Was

rather hard to get it to stop bleeding had to hold ice on it for about an hour.

Not that I was bleeding all that much just chicken to the pain.

It did take 20 mins or more to get it to stop bleeding.

I wrapped it for couple days and then left open and has healed nicely

I was on Sprycel for three years and never heard that. And I do not remember

bleeding excessively either.

I have not had any mishaps where I have bled until this.

But as we all know I have not had the most knowledgeable Dr's.

Hi Anita,

Sprycel has been known in some patients to cause their platelets to crash really

low. This would explain excessive bleeding. Do you know what your platelets

are?

Hi Anita,

If your platelets are anywhere near what they were in February then that

certainly wouldn't explain the bleeding as those are great numbers. You may

want to ask your doctor to check your prothrombin time to see if you have a

problem with clotting.
