Guest guest
Dear Group, Recently my niece told me that the doctor said my sister could have inherited leukemia and asked if I ever heard of it. I said I never did, but I would research it and get back with her. I did find it, but it is associated with CLL, which is the most common leukemia. I have heard of people living into their 90's with it. We have been cautioned many times about believing everything we read in the newspapers, so I always go back to the author and their source. Many publications are reliable and I am posting excerpts from this article in Science daily for your information. " Our findings identify for the first time a gene that appears to be associated with hereditary CLL, " says coauthor C. Byrd, professor of internal medicine and a CLL specialist. " They also show the importance of the gene in the pathogenesis of CLL, and direct us to target this gene with therapies that might re-activate it. " The findings also provide evidence that some genes might contribute to cancer even when they are not silenced entirely. " Since we are not supposed to quote an entire article, according to copyright laws, I am furnishing the source of the article so that you may go there and view the content in its entirety. Perhaps this will answer some of your questions. http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2007/05/070531120834.htm FYI, Lottie Duthu
