Guest guest
Thank you Wayne, for that brilliant article on Dr. Druker. I never met him personally, but only through e-mails. Most of us can't get a message returned from our doctors, but this man is so humble that he responds to everyone, along with his nurse who works so closely with him. I cannot heap enough praise upon this man and I read in the paper yesterday that 3 other Americans had shared the Nobel prize for medicine this past year. When is his turn going to come? He has received numerous awards, most of which we never heard of, but they are not enough for what he has done for the CML community and continues to do. Most of us would not be here were it not for Gleevec. I learned recently that Dr. Sawyers was also one of the doctors who worked with Dr. Druker and there was another doctor, but his name escapes me at the moment (I have a lot of those moments). Perhaps the other doctors' names will go down into oblivion, but Dr. Druker because of his dedication will have his name forever etched in our brains. Long live Druker. Guest guest
Dr. Druker and two others who worked with him (one must have been Sawyer) were on the Charlie Rose show on PBS last week. They were in New York to receive the Lasker Prize for medical achievement. It was a real upper! What a dear man. Not only a brilliant thinker, but a very clear communicator. From: lotajam@...
