Guest guest
Hi, I wrote a while back that I am new at this RA and have some difficulty with dealing with all that goes with it. I have it mostly in my back and have it in my neck, right shoulder and both ankles. I am on remacade and have only had 2 treatments. I would like to know how long it takes to get relief. I have another treatment today. I was taken of vioxx when they started this treatment and I find it hard to sleep at night. This morning I woke up on my stomach and I had so much pain in my lower back I could not move. I was lucky my husband was off last night. He was able to help me roll over. (I can't move my arms or legs, so it takes me almost an hour to turn over.) I have also recently been diagnosted with systemic lupus. So that makes me have even more problems. They have to work with each other so they don't put me on meds that doen't work well with each other. (both dos take to each other) thanks for letting me talk and I hope I will be able to get out of my depression.
Guest guest
, I've had RA since December 2001 and for the first year I had to have Prednsione to be able to function. I didn't get relief from Arava or Methotrexate, but Remicade is working for me and I was able to get off Prednisone. My first three infusions were at 3 mg/kg, the next two at 5 mg/kg, and the 6th at 6 mg/kg. After the 4th and 5th infusions I got 6 weeks of relief but had to increase my Prednisone for the last two weeks before the next infusion. The 6th infusion got me 7 weeks of relief and one week back on Prednisone, and I get my 7th infusion tomorrow. People are different and the dose of Remicade differs so it may take longer to get relief. I think you should try at least six infusions before you decide the drug has failed you. Good luck and God bless. ----- Original Message ----- From: Rheumatoid Arthritis Sent: Tuesday, April 15, 2003 9:49 AM Subject: RA help? Guest guest
Thank you for the reply. It's belived that I have had this for about 3 years. The military Docs missed the RA factor in all my work-ups. They sent me to pain management (they only did exercises and relaxation tapes.) A few months ago a TDY doc at the Base went through my records and just about had a cow. He put me on steroids and made a same day appointment with my Rheumy. He too had a cow about how long the Base went without looking at my past tests. Don't get me wrong. Most military docs were helpful with keeping me comfortable. I do have one question, since I started the treatments, I have had a constant cough. After yesterdays treatment I got worse. I read the pamplet they gave me and I didn't see anything about a cough. Does anyone else have this problem or do I need to see my Family Phy.?
Guest guest
, you don't say what medications other than Remicade you are on. Methotrexate is usually given along with Remicade and may have lung problems associated with it. It's certainly worth mentioning to your doctors even though it may not be serious. Good luck and God bless. Grandpavan1927 > Thank you for the reply. It's belived that I have had this for about > 3 years.
