Hi Jo-Dee,

The question you really want asked is: what is the sensitivity of the PCR

test that is done at this lab?

It is possible that the sensitivity could be +or- 0.001. This would mean

that there is no difference between a value of 0.003 and 0.004.

I don't believe that any of the CML experts would even consider a change in

therapy until there is a full 1 log change in results.

If you are nervous about these results, I would ask to have the PCR done

again right away and then every 3 months afterwards.

Good Afternoon.

I have a question for those of you that were on Gleevec and everything was

going well.

My last BCR-ABL test showed a tiny increase from .003 to .004. Instead of

waiting 6 months to run the test again, Dr. is doing it in 3 months.

I know I have been really busy lately but I have been napping on my lunch

hour for about the last month or so on and off. This weekend I was so bone

tired I could hardly put one foot in front of the other.

I have my blood drawn on Wednesday.

When the Gleevec started to not work anymore, what were your syptoms?

Blessings,

Jo-Dee

Hi again,

A log is a mathematical term. For our situation it means a 10 fold change.

So, if we start with a number like 0.003, then a value of 0.03 would be 10

times bigger and we would say that was a 1 log increase in value. Going from

0.003 to 0.0003 would be a 1 log decrease.

So, going from 0.003 to 0.004 is a very, very small increase.
