Guest guest
> > I should also mention that I just got the Nourishing Traditions book, and the recipes and ideas in it are just what my husband and I have been striving for in the last while. Even if I were to lighten up on the candida program, I would stick to what I'm learning in the NT book. I noticed in the files that Bee is an advocate of this book, so in that sense, I feel like I won't be HARMING my body. But maybe I'm being naive and just having a really, really bad day. ==>Sally Fallon's cookbook is not designed to treat candida sufferers. There are many foods in her book that feed candida (and cancer too) and would cause problems for diabetes or hypoglycemia, and many other diseases and malfunctions. Unhealthy people wouldn't be able get well eating all of the foods she recommends, particularly fruits, dairy (except butter), sugars, grains, seeds, nuts & legumes (even if they are properly prepared), etc. Try to keep things as simple as you can. Just preparing meats, eggs, and low-carb veggies with plenty of good fats is easy to do, but hard to confront. There is so much less food choices but they are healthier, and they cost less than all of the processed foods. In fact people require less food on this program. And contrary to popular belief no one gets bored eating the same foods day in a day out. Our ancestors only had foods available within their immediate vicinity, and some had very little choice, like the Eskimos. The best to you, Bee
Guest guest
Jana, I also homeschool my 2 kids that are still at home. Here are some tips that have helped me. First, I use one of those weekly pill holders to put all of my supplements in. It has a weeks worth of am and pm. So I take my morning ones and then my evening ones. It takes me 5 or 10 minutes to get that filled once a week. I make the egg drink at night for the next morning. Things like oatmeal and brown rice cereal can be cooked overnight in the crockpot for the kids. During the week I try to stick to easy lunches like tuna salad or pasta dishes for the kids. They are not on the diet all the way right now. Anything that you can eat they can eat too. Our dinners are the same for everyone but I have 1 really picky son. So I make whatever meat we are having and veggies that are safe for me and if I need to I just add something for him like potatoes or something he will eat. The same can be done for lunches. Start with a meat or veggie and adapt what you are already doing so that everyone is reasonably happy and fed. One thing that even my picky one eats is mashed cauliflower. It's one for the whole family. After cooking it till very soft I use the blender to puree it and season it like I would potatoes with butter, sea salt and pepper. It is also good for leftovers the next day. Alot of days I end up eating leftovers from the night before for lunch and making the kids their own lunch. One thought on quitting... we have gotten behind on our homeschooling because of the health problems I have with the yeast. It had gotten worse in the last couple of years so that I had not had the energy or focus to keep up with all we should have been doing. So it really is worth it to get a system worked out that allows you to keep on the diet. It does take time to get it going and feeling like it's just second nature. But it is possible. I have a problem with all or nothing thinking so I have to contunually remind myself if I'm not doing this perfectly it's ok. I'm working on it and that's good enough. Working out a system one meal at a time might be helpful. Get one meal figured out for everyone in the family and then work on the next meal. Make a menu for the week/month or whatever and stick to those each week/month. It really is no more expensive for food on this diet. The organic stuff is more expensive but buying less packaged processed stuff makes up for the increase. It will be more if you are buying your food in addition to the same stuff you've always bought. i hope that is helpful. Hang in there. Donna in Indy > > It's day 4. I feel like giving up. Guest guest
Hi I an new here at the forum, and I also know how expensive it is to stay with the Yeast protocol, I instead of buying organic, just wash all my veggies and even soak meats in ozonated water. It cleans off pesticides and all molds, bacteria virus's etc.
Guest guest
Group, I got tired as well and found the two sources of close calls of giving up from time to time: money and the lack of selections at the grocery store. So I found a solution (I understand not everyone will be able to do this), but I grow my own vegetables because from a seed catalogue, the possibilites are unlimited. And I am working on getting some chickens. As for the beef, buy from the local butcher in bulk. During deer season, ask a hunter that you know (talk and inquire) if he'll get a deer for you. Pay him of course. Plus there are co-ops and talk to more people about stretching the menu. I've become so accustomed to pasta night, pasta night, and more cheap foods to stretch my budget. This new concept of thinking has forced me to be creative and I've learned that my family is actually much closer because of this. We go out and check on the vegetables, and anxiously await their arrival in a few weeks. We'll be freezing pretty soon. I hope this helps for some of you. ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____Ready for the edge of your seat? No way your son is getting ISS for one push where nobody was injured; this is also for other things. I'll tell you how I dealt with teachers being unfair with my son once (in 6th grade all his teachers were blaming everything wrong that they didn't see happen on my son). Actually, I lucked out that the principal involved herself. I sat down with my son, went through all the supposed infractions one by one, got his side of the story, wrote it all down with a summary of my own perceptions, and sent a long letter to the principal. It helped. They actually started dealing with the bullies that were bullying him, and he ended up with his first SPED eval. > I don't know how much more I can take...and on top of all this the teacher who gave my son a spiral note book wants it back because my son uses his 3-ring binder. I would just buy her a new one--give it to her with the spiral and covers from the old one if you still have them LOL. Well, maybe not if she has no sense of humor. TOMORROW IS ANOTHER DAY! Guest guest
Ruth, thank you....reading the bottom put a smile on my face too! The language arts teacher can not read very well since I told her I ripped the paper out 2x before. OMG....and they say our kids can't read....duh! And while I was email my post my son and his friend went out to play basketball...the kid up the street who my son loved...but now are no longer friends....said to my son "So how is your grandfather" (he knows he died a year ago)...How cruel is that...but my son got him back...first time he ever did this....he said "And, how is you Dad?" The kid shut right up as his dad just past away. I don't encourage this type of behavior but you know what...the kid asked for it...it is the 2nd time he made that comment to my son....I am so sick of these kids...and then his younger sister and her friend walk by and shout out to my son...Loser Loser.... How much can a kid take? He went to bed at 8 and never did any homework. But like you said tomorrow is another day. I am taking all the hugs I can gather. jan Janice Rushen "I will try to be open to all avenues of wisdom and hope" From: r_woman2 <me2ruth@...>Subject: ( ) Re: Giving UP Date: Thursday, April 2, 2009, 6:54 PM >> Well...I got a phone call from the Assistant Principal... .the girls printed out the page from MySpace and brought it to school....I guess they showed the Asst. Guest guest
Hi : I forgot where you live, but there must be someone in the group that is not far from your area. There has to be a doctor that will see you even without insurance. I would be willing to research out a specialist in CML for you not far from where you are. Also, if you can get one where you might have to drive a bit of a distance at least for your first initial consultation and visit would you be able to. Let me try to help you out. Guest guest
, Do not give up. I have had second rate doctors since my DX in 2007. I have survived only because of it being God's will, not because of my Dr's. I have, like you learned from the wonderful people on this site. My going to the Dr appt's was a joke they did not like it when i contradicted them saying I learned it from my CML Chat..... I would do my lab work and give the dr his or her 10 min of fame play their game or tell them how stupid I thought they were and go home. Somtimes would be months before I could get a lab result. I definetly understand your giving up with them but do not I repeat Do Not give up on yourself. I am here you have my cell if you want to phone anytime I will be here. I will listen and as has said she will help you find a specialist let this group help you.
