Guest guest
Welcome Theresa!! RA is scary sometimes! So feel free to vent...cry...or rejoice when needed! As far as working is concerned everyone is different and it depends a lot on which joints are affected and how severely as well as if your meds help or not. Personally I had to go on medical disability and now am on social security disability but I HOPE one day to be able to function again!!!!!!!! Don't put yourself in a wheelchair just yet...see what the rheumatologist says and modify your workplace to what you need. I worked as long as I could!! Take care of yourself!! Peace! I was diagnosed by my gp last week with RA - now awaiting some blood test results. I've been reading up on this through the internet and it is pretty scary stuff. Although I'm hurting, I do work in an office, a lot on the computer. Do you think this is hurting me more? or will I be able to continue in this line of work? Guest guest
Hi , Welcome to the group! I was diagnosed with RA at the age of 13, after suffering for many years. I have had my ups & downs. I am married, have 2 teenage sons, work full time & volunteer teach 5th grade religion classes. This is not an easy disease to live with, but I think a lot has to do with your frame of mind. You have a disease, the disease does not have you! As I said I work full time, in an office at the computer. There are times that I do have to get up and walk around, stretch my legs & arms, and although my fingers do hurt I think it helps to keep them moving! You can write me anytime. Good Luck & God Bless, Barbara momyorkies <tflockha@...> wrote: Hi everyone - I'm new here so I thought I would just say hi. Guest guest
Hi --welcome to the group. I am relatively new to the group also. I was diagnosed in November of 200 with RA, as I was rehabbing from a total knee replacement. The doc's thought I had OA, but once the path report came back-RA. I, too, am in a good amount of pain and stiffness, and am on steroids until I see the Rheumatologist next week. He is to start me on Plaquenil then. I am a Nurse, and am FINALLY going back to work next week-lite duty-after being off for 5months. Best of luck to you...sherri PS-I, too, am a Yorkie lover!!!!! Guest guest
: Here's a very warm Hi right back to you. So glad you have joined our group and I welcome your E-Mails at any time. I'm very new myself and have little to offer in the way of really great advice yet, but I can certainly sympathize and offer my support and share with you my limited experience with this disease. I rarely jump right in and reply, but I do read what everyone has to say and get a lot of help for myself that way. Some of these men and women have been through so much and that encourages me to hang on. You are in the right place, my new friend. Guest guest
Hi & welcome to our group! Your son is at a great younger age to get good correction from his band/helmet. What type of band or helmet was he casted for (STAR, DOC, locally made)? Banding correction has a pretty high success rate, esp in younger babies like is. The key to success w/any type of band/helmet is finding an experienced/trained orthotist. Do you know if your ortho has experience with plagio banding? Where abouts do you live? Maybe we have another member in your area that has experience w/your product/clinic? Guest guest
The name of the place we are going is Precision Prosthetics and Orthotics, 100 N. Euclid St. Louis, MO 63108. (314) 361-7800, Barbara Zeigler is who measured and actually makes the helmet. I will keep you posted on his progress.
