Guest guest
Unfortunately, I did not get better, but worse, hence now unable to work. All my side effects got worse vs better. Hard to deal with, hard to believe. I have been home a year now and still can't believe it. Thank god I had long term insurance and PERS, or I would be living with my son! A potential remedy Date: Friday, October 16, 2009, 6:49 PM All, I had to chime in on the posts about ummmmm, problems with our bowels. As someone said - 'Been there - done that'. I was having panic attacks at work when I was in a small conference room at work packed with co-workers - and had that sudden immediate and explosive feeling of needing to " go " . Like right then! AWFUL. I would start to sweat - and pray. Most of the time I managed to get out of the room. I did find something that helped me immensely. Imodium. Over the counter. I lived on that stuff. it really did work and it's worth a try for those who need to find a way to get on with the business of living (not running to the bathroom all the time!) I am now on tasigna - and I still have the problem but not as frequently. Do hope everyone can find 'relief' for this situation as it truly alters our lives and is very difficult to manage! Thanks! Guest guest
, reading your post sounds exactly like how I feel! My side effects have gotten worse with time not better! I just had a disability hearing on the 14th, because although I've worked full time prior to diagnosis, I am not capable of working at all now. I am thankful to be alive, but the very drug that keeps us alive makes us so sick! We just have to keep the faith. Peggy Sent via BlackBerry from T-Mobile [ ] Embarrassing Moments! Guest guest
Oh Peggy, you made my day! All the posts I have been reading are about how the side effects get better. I felt like, what is wrong with me? Thanks for sharing, i feel better someone else had to quit work. Don't get me wrong, I know that sounds selfish. That is not what I mean, I feel bad for you, but at least someone can relate to me! From: Barbara Heathcote <bheath@...> Subject: [ ] Embarrassing Moments! Guest guest
Hello , I know exactly what you mean, because it also helps me knowing someone else understands exactly how I feel! I feel like I'm trapped in a 90 year old body and I'm 46! I'm really glad we found each other! Love, Peggy Sent via BlackBerry from T-Mobile [ ] Embarrassing Moments! Guest guest
Another couple of remedies I have found helpful for bowel emergencies--I have had this problem seriously, and two things have been good--water-soluble fiber (like Metamucil or Citrucel) a couple of teaspoons twice or even three times per day--start off slow and work your way up, and a calcium supplement with vitamin D. This helps to absorb excess liquid in the bowel, plus helps your bones! These things are things that folks with irritable bowel syndrome have used for years to great benefit, and I decided to try them out for myself and found they were wonderful. I also use imodium periodically when I need it, but find I need it far less when I am using the fiber and calcium supplements. It should be calcium gluconate for best tolerance. I use the Kirkland Signature label calcium from Costco, and their generic Kirkland brand imodium is great too, and SO much cheaper! I am going off Gleevec soon--having a bone marrow biopsy in early December. My philadelphia chromosome is back and I am a bit worried, but figure there are a couple of more good drugs out there for me to try, so not too worried.
