Guest guest
Oh those after a hoilday sales! Without those, not sure we would have ever had a holiday the following year!! The last few years we have had some close friends who had hard times and yes.we also did things anonamously...it was great cuz we knew them personally, sad cuz they " fell thru the cracks " and did not qualify for lots of help from agencies- so we took it upon ouurself- and yes, had a blast doing so. Previously we also bought those very tiny trees and battery operated lites and super mini ornaments and made very small trees to take to the nursing home for patients rooms. (this was easier cuz I worked there) and we took a few thru the last couple of years to elderly or alone people who we feared might not go thru the work of putting up a big tree. My kids really loved this project. We did 15 of them last year for our veterans transitional living shelter..and then we took 15 dollar store coffee mugs and filled them with packets of hot cider mix, tea bags, single serve coffee, cocoa, hersheys kisses and candy canes to go with their little trees. Added some ribbon and voila, a mini quiet evening in front of a tree. My kids love to scour the stores after a holiday to use for the next holiday and like I said, it has been my way since before I had kids. (altho I save the main gift for the kids till closer to CHristmas, and clothes, too, learned the hard way I cannot always predict their size for next year or what will be The Big Want) I have noticed, tho, that around here there is less to buy at the after holiday sales, maybe the merchants got wise to us? Is there a way people can support you in this endeavor, through donations perhaps? Just wondering..thanks for all this great information. I am going to have a place for donations on my new website but that will cost me more to set it up something like PayPal. The setup cost was $36.21 and I'm paying $25.00 per month for the site. In addition I may need to buy a good search engine for about $50.00. If anyone wants to help me I would very much appreciate it. Please send an email to me at my home: beewilder@... and I will give you my address. Thanks for thinking of me . Luv & Hugs, Bee
Guest guest
I second this question by re donations. There are many of us on here, and with this information you are literally giving us our lives back!! Do you have a paypal account? Perhaps post the email address for us to show our gratitude for the countless hours you have put in. It is the holiday season after all. Bless bless (an icelandic greeting), Ann > > > In a message dated 12/3/2006 2:33:06 P.M. Eastern Standard Time, > writes: > > Thanks for wishing me rewards and success. Guest guest
Dear Sue, You are not legally bound to pay for anything that was unsolicited. You can always call their number and tell them to take you off the list and they usually do. I think there ought to be a better way to get donations than to bombard people about sending money. What I hate are the political robo calls. I wonder if I could get a court order or sue them in my town and make them come here, then they might think twice about it. I finally wrote my senator and told him to run for dog catcher. They cannot be embarrassed, we have seen them on TV. They have a mechanism buried in their pshyches to turn anyone off and just move on, while we would be smouldering from the heat coming from the inferences. Guest guest
> Hi Lottie: I know that I do not have to pay for anything that is sent to me in the mail that is unsolicited. I have my certain charities that I do give to, but I did request that my name be taken off all the other things. They do not listen to me, and keep sending me stuff. I keep what they send, and ignore their mail. Maybe, finally when they get no money from me they will stop sending. I think you mentioned address labels. I get so many, and some are really pretty. I throw out the ones I do not want, and calendars. Makes you wonder why they need donations, when they waste so much money sending out all this stuff they have printed up that costs them. > Dear Sue, > You are not legally bound to pay for anything that was unsolicited.
