Guest guest
Sonya: I live in the same area as you. I was wondering if you could e-mail me directly to discuss doctors you use for various therapies and care. My e-mail is leanne@... thanks, leanne blood work I live in pasadena, ca and I am looking for a good lab to get my son's blood drawn. we usually get it done at dr.g's office but I feel the new lab people there are not the best and were not successful in drawing my 4 year old's blood even after 5 pokes! He was so hysterical that I took him home without the lab work. The past lab guys at dr.g's were pretty good and although my son put up a good fight, it was never THIS traumatic. any advice on where I can go locally that deals with young kids (especially autistic/ kids) would be much appreciated. sonya P.S. We have tried ELMA cream. He refuses to leave the patches on for a long enough time. I also bought the cream but that too needs to be covered and he just won't leave it alone! Guest guest
No problem at all. Initial evaluation for men whom are not on any testosterone replacement therapy Should be tested in the morning around 9:00am. Circadian rhythms of serum testosterone concentrations in men have been shown, in general, to be highest in the morning and lowest in the evening. Patients also should be advised eliminate any exercise starting the evening prior to the blood draw since this has been shown to blunt LH and increase cortisol levels resulting in a lower free and total testosterone level. Thus potentially giving you a false low reading. Men whom are currently on testosterone replacement therapy Transdermal Gel: Steady state blood levels occur following 4 weeks of application, thus repeat blood test should be done no sooner then 4 weeks upon initiation of first testosterone application. Men whom have only a moderate degree of hypogonadism you might see a dip in testosterone levels at 3 to 4 weeks due to suppression of whatever natural production of testosterone this patient might have prior to the start of therapy. Taking into account the great inter and intra patient variability in the absorption of topical gel peak levels usually occur at 18 hours following application. Blood draw should be done 24 hours after previous application and this time frame should be keep constant from one draw to the next. Testosterone application immediately following a shower or bath has been shown to increase the absorption of testosterone by 3x (1) compared to application to dry skin Testosterone application to 4 sites versus a single site has been shown to increase testosterone levels by 23% and DHT by 33% Here is the link: http://www.natural-hrt.com/artman/publish/article_82.shtml Cheers > > Hi, > > > > I got all my blood work done yesterday to test my LH, FSH, prolactin, e2, DHEAs, SHBG, estraodil, total testosterone, bio available testosterone, DHT and maybe even a few others. I know that it is most ideal to get tests done in the early morning, however this did not happen. I ended up getting my tests done at about 12:15 in the afternoon, however I did get to sleep in till 9:30. I asked the blood technicians (about 5 times) if it was " ok " to get them done this late, and that I could come in another time. Anyhow, $109 dollars later (not to mention the countless thousands in taxes ive paid), I am wondering if I was right to trust the techs on getting my tests done at this time. > > > > > > How much do you think that this will affect my results? > > > > Thankyou, > > > Tom > > > > --------------------------------- > Post your free ad now! Guest guest
, We are dealing with the potential allergies, too. This is with my NT, older son. He was congested for close to a year without really being sick. At times it was greenish but without any fever. He was skin-tested for 24 common allergens last week: all negative except for a small reaction to dog dander. We have a dog. The doctor felt confident that this minor reaction could not lead to such a major sinus problem. We are off for a CT scan of his sinuses. What has been proposed to us is a 10 day round of antibiotics followed by 3 weeks of a tapering dose of prednisone to reduce the inflammation. I am not happy about that, but we will discuss it further after the CT scan results. Our mainstream allergist (MD/PhD) told me that food allergies will not cause the level of congestion/pressure/headache that my son is experiencing. I am not convinced, but his IgE panel came back negative. At 2 he tested positive (slightly) for an IgE wheat allergy, but elimination of wheat from his diet recently didn't seem to make much of a difference at all. Amazingly, the doc didn't test him for an IgE allergy to WHEAT when we were there last week. I didn't have time to wait for another test result, but we will have that retested next time. I tell you this to warn you to not assume anything at a doctor's visit! I was floored that wheat wasn't being tested when Noah had tested pos 6 years ago. I just assumed... The doc felt a food allergy couldn't cause the presenting symptoms so he didn't even bother. Grrr. As far as blood work goes, we had a comprehensive blood panel (I think it is generally called a CBC) run on my ASD child last month. Included will be a plasma amino acid profile. A hair test (like DDI) can test for mineral deficiencies and imbalances, but is not 100% accurate. Oops! I need to run. Guest guest
I'm going to be consulting with Dr Leu in OK who is a ND (Kenda recomended him) he runs different indepth tests that will show him where exactly your body is off so to say. You can check out his website drleu.com & click on functional tests & he has a new one not listed called Organic Acid which Kenda had done & would know more about or you could call his office & ask. I'm excited to have my appt w/him on Mon & see what tests he suggests for me (and I live in Alaska so he treats with people from around the US) Jen In , " Colleen McKenzie " <cfortner@e...> wrote: > > Does anyone know where you can have bloodwork done to test for silicone illness or > toxins from implants? Guest guest
Contact Immunosciences Lab, (800) 950-4686 and talk to Dr. Aristo Vojdani. He is really one of the most intelligent human beings I have ever known. Ask him about the validity of Silicone Antibody tests and how it is shown to be valid. I think you will find that these tests are valid and proven.Contact Immunosciences Lab, (800) 950-4686 and talk to Dr. Aristo Vojdani. This one was recommended by Lynda. I have another one but I have to send it separately. Love, Anita blood work Does anyone know where you can have bloodwork done to test for silicone illness or toxins from implants? Guest guest
Anita: I called Immuno Science Lab at one time and tried to talk to Dr. Aristo Voidani, however, the receptionist said he would only speak to my doctor. I tried to get my dr. to call him but she didn't. The cost for the tests aren't covered by insurances so I left it at that. They do have some reduced fees, or smaller tests. I think some of the tests they run can also be ordered by a reg. physician. If I could afford these tests I would do them though. It would prove an allergy to silicone and could be helpful in a lawsuit. I suppose. > Contact Immunosciences Lab, (800) 950-4686 and talk to Dr. Aristo > Vojdani. Guest guest
What is it you wish to know from Dr. Vojdani? I don't think they have reduced fees, but they do take insurance, and most insurance will cover them if your doctor orders them. Some HMO's however, will not cover them. I recommend the Silicone Implant Panel Comprehensive. Guest guest
Diane, There are probably many tests you could get done, but there is actually not a specific test that will confirm that the implants are making you ill. Generally, tests are performed that look for autoimmune markers, such as ANA, Sed Rate, C-reactive protein, anti- TPO antibodies, the complement's, (like C3 and C4), Sjogren's sydrome, scleroderma. It looks like these tests will give you some good info, but you could probably include some of these others. I am sure some of our other members have more info on the many tests they have had done that came up abnormal. Mine were the Anti-TPO antibodies, C3 complement, and Rheumatoid factor. Guest guest
I recommend the Silicone Implant Panel Comprehensive from Immunosciences Lab in CA. It covers about $1500 worth of tests for about $550, and does the neurological as well as all the autoimmune. Guest guest
Diane, I'd suggest contacting Deb Pettitt's clinic to see what you may want to test for. She's been in contact with doctors and scientists who are filling her in on the problems frequently found. Deb's having her implants removed today so she won't be there. However someone on her staff could probably tell you what you want to test for. Rogene Deborah A. Guest guest
- Diane Be careful in allowing anybody to give you a formal diagnosis. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia years ago and didn't realize that I would find it hard to get insurance later. When my husband died I had to go on expensive cobra because know one would take me simply because I had fibromyalgia!! I put my kids on a separate policy that was cheaper. If I hadn't gotten remarried just when my cobra was running out I would have not been able to get regular insurance. Those are good tests to help you determine your health but I would also add complete thyroid function tests as well as saliva testing for adrenals and hormones. By the way, there is no test for fibromyalgia. It is usually diagnosed based on symptoms such as specific )and ruling out other illnesses. That should make it easier to insist that you not be labeled with fibromyalgia. None of those tests are specific, but can help point to various rheumatic diseases. Good luck on your tests. Good luck on your tests.Hugs, kathy-- In , Diane Myers <dlmyers1960@s...> wrote:> Hi> > I am finally having the bloodwork done at the clinic friday to diagnose possible fibromyalgia along with everything else from these implants. Guest guest
I just heard from Deb Pettitt . . . Her surgery with Dr. Melmed is over. She's doing well and adores Dr. Melmed. She said that Immunosciences did her testing and that her labs were all messed up! Hugs, Rogene

Guest guest
No, no, no . . . What I meant to say is that lab tests show that Deb has a lot of abnormal issues. Sorry I wasn't clear! Guest guest
Ah, yes, that would make her typical of a breast implant patient, wouldn't it!!!?? Guest guest
Hi Rose- when it came to blood work for my child at any age it literally took 4-5 grown adults to hold him down. Now, with his doctor she has him take Xanax to help and works so much better and the medicine wears off by the end of the day. Talk about a bleessing. Let me know how everything works out for you. The question I have is how have other parents approached this with their children? My son is hyperactive and how do I get him to the point of the blood draw. Have anyone used sedation if so what type. Any suggestion would be great. He has a dental work that will most likely require him be asleep under GA....I am not sure how long that will take could be 4-5 months. I would like to get the blood work done before that. Guest guest
Rose, We use EMLA cream on our boys (per Dr. Goldberg). It is a prescription numbing cream that you put on the child's arm to reduce the pain of blood draws. My kids call it " Magic Lotion " . Check out this web page to see how to put it on... http://www.emla-us.com/apply/indexcream.htm Actually, we went and had a little lesson at our pediatrician's office before the first time we put it on at home. We now use Saran wrap instead of the Tegaderm pads to cover the EMLA after we put it on because my kids were sensitive to the Tegaderm Pads (plus Saran is cheaper!). Now we just wrap Saran around their arms and tape it TO ITSELF (not to their skin) with masking tape. We do this at home before we go to the lab. It usually goes like this at my house... " Son, we have to do labs today. " " NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I don't want to! " . Then I say, " Well, I know you don't want to, but we have to go. Would you rather do it WITH EMLA or WITHOUT? " Of course after a little moaning they always decide to do it " WITH " . Then we put it on and when it's time to go they don't want to go and I tell them we have to hurry before it wears off. That usually gets them going. Actually, last time we did labs, my 5 year old didn't even seem to care that we had to go. Sometimes they still feel a little something but I hope not as much as they would without the EMLA. My kids are pretty verbal but I have a friend whose son is not verbal and at first he used to have to have an army to hold him down... now with the EMLA he is much calmer. It takes a lot of stress out of the experience for the kids. Good luck.
