Guest guest
Hi, I don't know enough to comment on RDW. There's some info. at: http://www.vh.org/adult/provider/pathology/CLIA/Hematology/14RedCell.html For total T, some labs use 241dg/mL as the bottom of the range, others use 350. Either way your T 127 is far too low. Confirms your diagnosis of hypogonadism. I assume this test was taken before your new endo started you on Androgel. Guest guest
Hi Alane, It is usual for the blood work to worsen as the antibiotics start eliminating infection. You're also taking Minocin, Augmentin and Diflucan together which sure will stir things up. As time goes on, the blood work improves again. Sounds like you're on the right track. Chris. Guest guest
Liz, I can't answer all of your other questions, but I can tell you it is quite normal to see a slightly low CO2 on bloodwork. CO2 will quickly go down with rapid breathing (we breathe out carbon dioxide)- often seen when people(children and adults) come in to get their blood drawn. This may not be much help, but addresses one common cause of a slightly low CO2. Gretchen > > I am reviewing bloodwork again. My son's CO2 level came back slightly > low. Guest guest
It does make sense. The child involved id 2 and let's just say, with all that crying, the breathing was rapide when they took that blood. I'll call the lab and doc aboutthe other stuff. Guest guest
--- Hi Jen: I do not blame you for being so upset. I cannot believe the doctor actually said he had to call the company who makes Gleevec. Novartis is the company. This doctor does not know enough about CML for sure or Gleevec. The counts did come up a little bit, and thats good. A week away from your appointment with the other doctor is something to think about. Be sure you have copies of everything that this doctor has done to take with you. Thats all I can really say, but hopefully someone with better information will be able to advise you of your next step. A lot of doctors are not up on all the latest treatments, and thats why we say make sure its a CML Specialist that your seeing. I hope you can get this all worked out with the new doctor. Guest guest
Why in blazes would they be asking the company? It's not their place to treat patients! Guest guest
> Hi Jen: I knew you would get some advice from somebody else. I agree with Beverly, and I cannot believe I did not think of that. Call Northwestern Hospital, and ask to speak to the doctor your going to see, or leave a message. Tell them exactly how you have been treated, and like Beverly said maybe they can get you in sooner. Even if the doctor calls you back to advise you would be good. It would ease your mind a bit also, then to sit and wait till your scheduled appointment. Please let us know how you make out with all of this. > I had my appt yesterday to check my bloodwork and get another Procrit shot. The nurse did my bloodwork and then told me I was done. Guest guest
Jen, the others who advised you to go to Northwestern (or another good CML center) are absolutely correct! Run, don't walk... drop this doctor, your health is too important to be used for his schooling. There are plenty of good, informed doctors out there who are ready, willing and able to help you. Unless you are having a BAD reaction to Gleevec your doctor will not drop your dosage below 400 mg daily. Keep the faith, you are winning the fight! Guest guest
Hi Luther, I was one of the first memebers there good forum but later on I found out my peoblems were low Testosterone so here I am now a co- mod here. Your levels are low but if your Estraidol levels are high this can do this to your labs. Your brain sees Estradiol like it's Testosterone and will slow down telling your testis to make it. If this is why your levels are low fixing your Estradiol levels if they are over 30 best at 20 pg/ml you can add 200 to 300 points to your labs. So don't go on TRT until you figure out why your low. When I first got sick after an auto accident when Dr.'s could not figure out why I was sick they told me I suffered from Major Depression. I had to go a long with this because I was off work on sick leave. It's a long story you can read about it at this link. http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/stories-of-others/phils-story/ In this link it's about older men but I see this happen in younger men it shows how your Testosteone levels can go down with high levels if Estradiol. And them high levels will kill your sex life. http://jcem.endojournals.org/cgi/content/full/89/3/1174 http://www.medibolics.com/ArimidexBoostsTestosterone.htm http://www.lef.org/magazine/mag2008/nov2008_Dangers-of-Excess-Estrogen-in-the-Ag\ ing-Male_01.htm There are many things that can lower your Testosterone levels if you find out what it is and fix it your levels will go back up. If you go on TRT it's for life. http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=450553 Co-Moderator Phil > From: lightsoutluther <lightsoutluther@...> > Subject: Bloodwork > > Date: Thursday, January 6, 2011, 8:08 PM > Hi folks - > > I'm a long time member of this group, 34 years old, however > I spend much of my time over at SSRI Medication, as I believe my > problems stem from 3 years of Celexa use.
