Guest guest
The Gleevec was causing my Iron Deficient Anemia to become worse. I was on Transfusions every 3 weeks for six months. Took a vacation for 6 months and had to go back on the Gleevec and less than 6 months later I needed another transfusion. My CML counts were such at I took another vacation and Procrit to rebuild the HMg. At then my CML counts have remained low enough that that I remain on vacation. This is my contribution to the new research efforts of seeing how long my body can sustain minimal counts without medication. This year I have been basicly retired (nobody wants an old person) even part time. I had a pacemaker put in in March and the better circulation has given me better CBC counts everytime I have one. I am almost free of all the CML complaints (cramps, puffy eyes, etc. H. > > Why no Gleevec did I miss sommething. > > > > > ________________________________ > From: dickie_64012 <dickie_64012@...> > > Sent: Tuesday, September 22, 2009 11:51:37 PM > Subject: [ ] Update on Gleevec Vacation > > > I received the news that there was little change in my latest test. Guest guest
I agree. However, it is my choice. It hasn't been proven that I can't tolerate 400mg Gleevec. I told the ONC that I was not really interested in taking the newer meds as their side effects sounded as bad as Gleevec. I would rather be where I am at than starting to learn a bunch of different side effects unless it is absolutely necessary. I am thankful that we still have choices we can make about the quality of life while enduring CML.
