Online Bone Marrow Drive

I'm not sure if my other email and the attachment will come through on the

postings.My friends and I are conducting an online bone marrow drive =if you

know anyone who would like to register, I would ask that they use the code

Cheryl50. It will track how many people we were able to bring onboard during

the two weeks of the drive.

I know none of us can register but many of our friends and family are able to do

so. Maybe you know someone who has been thinking about joining. Here is an

easey peasy way= right in the comfort of their own homes.

In case the other email doesn't come through:It tells the story about my

co-worker and her husband Bobby. Bobby is 29. He was diagnosed with

Leukemia last year( not CML- I think B cell) and went in remission due to the

chemo. But in the spring he fell out of remission. Currently, Bobby is at the

City of Hope- waiting for a match;chemo and platelets are keeping him alive his

wbc count is .02. He is recovering from a yeast infection in his lungs. They

have two little boys and it breaks my heart. Somewhere theer is a person who is

able to save his life but that won't happen for Bobby or others unless we can

increase the registry. I named this drive Cheryl50 to honor one of my biggest

supporters on her 50th b-day. I think the next one we do, we will name

after our English CML warrior who started 's Army.

Anyone who would like to register can go to the Be The Match website...

BeTheMatch.org. There it will give the criteria 18-60 years old, be willing to

donate to any patient in need and meet the health criteria e.g. no chronic

illnesses etc. The potential donor registers online and they are sent a kit and

instructions; they swab their own cheek and send it back to Be The Match.

We are so lucky that we have better living through chemistry with our

multi-generational drugs. In another time we could have been the person in the

hospital room ....waiting.
