Guest guest
Hi , You certainly appear to be in a very small minority of women. At least it seems that the Gleevec AND Sprycel weight gain affects more women than men. The only time I lost weight on Gleevec (after gaining about 40 lbs) was when I lost response to it. Then the fat just melted away. I had never had a sustained really good response and was only a Zero in Zavie's Club for a brief period of time. I was on 800 mg. Then when I started on Sprycel I gained back 30 pounds which is where I am now. I lost quite a bit of weight over a 3-week period several years ago when I had to quit Sprycel for awhile because of a bout with pleural effusion. The fact that you've lost weight just says to me that Gleevec messes with our metabolism in some mysterious way that no one understands yet. I even took thyroid pills for awhile but they didn't make any difference either! Thanks for posting. I think you just may be the other side of the same coin. Best wishes, L [ ] gleevec weight gain I have been reading posts from other people in this group about gaining weight while taking Gleevec. I just want to say, I have lost weight since being on it. I have lost a total of 41 pounds. I have NO appetite though and have to make myself eat. I'm not sure if it's from the Gleevec or what it is from but I'm not complaining about the weigt loss. I just hope I lose more! Blessings,
