Guest guest
Dear , While I am not yet an expert on the numbers game in order to get a free pass into the " Zero Club " , those zeroes on your results look positively enchanting to me. I think it means that you are well on your way to your " remission " . Good for you on wanting to learn more about CML and all it's zigs and zags. You are responding well to your treatment and that makes me a little envious. LOL Not all of us respond as quickly as you or even in the same manner. Some are immediate success stories and some have to wait a bit longer. Some have their meds withheld for other medical reasons like rashes and suppressed counts. We do have to watch our CBC's very closely. I think that is the first lesson to be learned, how to decipher those CBC's. Meanwhile, we invite your questions and rejoice in your pronounced success. I would describe some of our discussions as fireside chats, wherein we discuss much more than CML, as we should not define ourselves as a patient with CML. Life goes on for others and we have to keep up or be left behind. You have new friends here who will always be here for you. Complaining is acceptable to us, as we understand, but on the outside world, we are met with a blank stare sometimes. Since we don't look emaciated or lose our hair, people don't generally associate this disease with other cancers. I encourage you to share what you learn with your family and friends and ask them to make allowances for your non-particpation that are beyond your physical capabilities. While many are able to retain their jobs, there are some who are not. When I was diagnosed, there was a social worker and a dietician who came to my visits and discussed my diet and how I should continue to conduct my life. It is important to eat well and exercise as much as you can. I used to walk 3 to 5 miles a day with my husband, until we developed blisters between our toes and then decided that 3 miles was sufficient. Because of advanced age and other chronic illnesses, I am unable to keep that pace, but I say as busy and as independent as I can. Do not neglect to report anything unusual to your doctor. A fever means you may be harboring an infection, something you want to avoid. No charge for the advice.
