Guest guest
I have been out of touch for a while due to health issues, both for me and my dog. My little toy fox terrier, Roscoe, 15 years old in September, just passed away from lymphoma. I first had C difficile colitis back in May and when that didn't kill me, went on to get H1N1 this past month for two solid weeks! My workplace (Virginia Mason Hospital in Seattle) requires H1N1 and regular flu shot for " fitness for duty " requirements and so I will be having both, though as yet we haven't had enough of the H1N1 to go around, and regular flu shots were given while I was out sick, so I have to get both. I am now having Philadelphia chromosome show up again in my blood work so I am having another bone marrow biopsy in early November, and I am guessing I will be switched to a different medication. I'm on Gleevec 600 mg per day, and it has never worked all that well for me--I seem to be rather resistant, or my leukemia is rather resistant, I should say. Can anybody tell me what the usual next drug is if Gleevec is not working well? Hope all are well. I am working full-time so will be lurking and piping up occasionally. Lottie, I am so sorry to hear about your brother. Take care, and remember, it ain't the end! Hugs, Vicki
Guest guest
Hi Vicki: I probably have spoken to you, but through the years I have been in contact with so many people, and sorry to say I forget names sometimes. Sorry to hear about your dog, and that your not doing too good on the Gleevec. I see a lot of people who have not been able to handle the Gleevec, and have gone onto Sprycel or Tasigna. There are new trials going on also for people who have become resistant to everything. We are in a good time in our life where there is constantly something new on the horizon to treat and hopefully eventually cure CML. I had my regular flu shot, but now trying to find a place that has the H1N1 Vaccine. They just cannot produce enough of it to go around. Hope you get your vaccine and feeling better soon. Let everyone know how your doing when you get the time. Sue > > I have been out of touch for a while due to health issues, both for me and my dog.
