Guest guest
Dear Beth, I know your post was not meant to be funny, but I immediately thought of all the pets who like to put their heads outside the car window and it suddenly occured to me that they were trying to keep from upchucking!!!!!!!!!!! LOL Please tell me how you can squelch the urge to throw up, I have not caught on to that trick yet. What you are experiencing is awful, but I hope it soon disappears and is only temporary. When I have dizzy spells I revert to Bonine, which is also good for nausea, and motion sickness, it settles the stomach. I suffer from motion sickness and the last time I crossed the big pond for a long plane ride, I used those little elastic wrist bands they sell in the drug stores for motion sickness. Although I am a skeptic, it worked for me. Maybe it will work for you. The little metal button is in your pulse and you just apply pressure to it. Maybe it works for any kind of nausea. Your counts are doing great, so is it a tradeoff to be nauseated??????? LOL. I think the fact that you are responding so well with your blood counts is due to the fact that you are younger and we in the older group have been on many other drugs, so we are slower to respond and our stomachs react to these powerful drugs. I am getting to the point that I can't take antibiotics or pain meds. You have responded and the good news is that you won't be needing a BMT. Keep on truckin'. Guest guest
Lottie, Thank you for the giggle! Sometimes I can talk myself out of throwing up, not always (and certainly not while I was on Gleevec--when it was time to blow, I blew! lol). I was grateful this was one of those times--I took a deep breath and the nausea passed. This is all new to me, so we'll see how it goes. I went to bed at 6:15pm last night and slept all night and I'm feeling much better today. I am taking things one day at a time and sort of " check in " with myself regularly to see where I'm at and adjust my activities accordingly. Re my response. I think part of why I'm doing so well is that my body is " naive " to the drugs out there. I was on Gleevec for less than a year and Sprycel for a week or so. It seems like the folks with the super suppressed counts and rashes, etc. were all participants in other trials. In particular, it seems like the folks that were on HHT trial (I am pretty sure that is the trial drug Jackie was on) are having a super hard time with low counts. Lottie--weren't you in that trial as well? I'm not complaining...really. I did have a little pity party yesterday because I felt so crappy, but I'm back up and at it again and having a great day at work. So, I'll take it...
