Guest guest
I saw my doctor yesterday, and he had this wonderful anecdote about Dr. Druker. The incident happened years ago, while Gleevec was in its early trials. My doctor, Dr. Brad , had a patient whose levels were off the map. He brought them down using phoresis but within a couple days they were twice as high as they had been to begin with. He sat down with the woman and her husband and told them the picture was not good. He got ahold of Dr. Druker on a Saturday night and explained the situation. Dr. Druker said, " Put them in the car, tell them to drive straight through to Oregon and I will meet them at my office first thing in the morning. " So first thing Sunday morning Dr. Druker met with the couple and started the woman on what we now call Gleevec. She is still alive today and doing very well. But there you have Dr. Druker -- taking a call on a Saturday night from a doctor he didn't know, treating a woman he did not know on a Sunday morning! We are so lucky, not just for his genius and perseverance but for his incredible compassion and dedication. _________________________________________________________________ Hotmail: Trusted email with Microsoft’s powerful SPAM protection. http://clk.atdmt.com/GBL/go/177141664/direct/01/
