Guest guest
Just read your message and I too have had this problem with my daughter. It has been going on for some time now. The thing is I dont think she even knows the concept of "stealing". Ya know what I mean? I really dont think she knows stealing like we do. Is you're daughter aware of what it means to steal? If she sees something she "wants" then she will say ...Take it home, take it home...just Whitneys! As soon as you take your eyes off of her its loaded up and ready to go.Usually have to "frisk her" before leaving.(smile) She has gotten better but the behavior does still exist...just not as frequently.I have noticed that as she gets older alot of her behaviors have lessened or disappeared.Thank God!! Good luck!
Guest guest
OH yes the klepto. Maggie is not so bad now but she was terrible. Now she will pay for her items herself at the store. I figured if she had to go thru the motions she would have to learn that this is what you do at the store. But you have to get her right out. If there is to much time between paying and leaving then she seems to pick something up and walk out with it. We would go to the video store and she would try to sneak video's but they would have that thing that would beep real loud, so she caught on to that and knew she couldn't. But then she figured out that the sodas or candy by the check stand didn't beep when she smuggled them thru. Luckily I knew the owners real well. Sometime they would see her do it but they let her because I spent a lot of money there. By the time I caught on and came back in to pay they would crack up. They knew before me. that was when she was about 6 or 7. When she was about 5, One time she went to my sisters. She took a fancy to her coocoo clock. When nobody was looking she smuggled the clock under her shirt and was ready to go by by. She would not give it up. We tried to take it away and she through such a fit that my sister insisted that she take it. I know I know that probably wasn't the best thing to do but my family will not be tough with her. J.
