A person can only now get adc for two years, once in a > lifetime. If you qualify for disability or retirement and didnt earn That's not altogether accurate. The states, at least several states, disburse welfare funds plus add their own, including California. It was quite the thing when Louisiana, Tennesee, and if memory serves me Alabama, were paying their welfare recipients to move and buying them bus tickets, quite literally " shipping " them to California luring them with the " higher " welfare payments. It was so bad, CA passed a law temporarily denying benefits by instituting a 6-month waiting period for persons moving into the state. A law which, coincidentally, the US Supreme court overturned as discriminatory! > enough to get social security you can get on SSI, supplemental security > income. If any one else working is in your household you can not get > SSI. The > very poor on Medicaid now have to pay deductables on things too at least > in my state. This means that many Medicare and medicaid patients dont go > for care they need and with no drug coverage many many Medicare We're not seeing that in CA. Here we still have a raging disparity between those who are multi-generational welfare recipients and know how to play the system from popping out kids for more money to driving expensive autos, etc.; And those who are fresh to the system, neophytes as it were, usually working folks who have found themselves in dire straights and end up being played for fools and abandoned by the very system that was made to help them. The honest " neophyte " does without and sinks deeper daily, while the " expert " gets everything and benefits in more ways than one. The " neophyte " is annoyed at sitting for endless hours awaiting care, preferring to be working, or at least tryin to; While the " expert " uses the time to relax, scheme and network. Honesty indeed does carry a price, just as certainly as does freedom. And that price is just as certainly blood. > recipients do not get the medicine that is prescribed for them. Obviously different in different states. > These programs certainly help a lot of us who would be dead without them > but many also probably die because of lack of medicine and also care > given to these patients is ofton substandard. This indictment is very true - as far as it goes. If you don't, you're left out in the wind. But if you know how to work the system, you can do quite well on welfare, Medi-Cal, etc., here. Additionally, if something happens to you and you're a neophyte, you're inclined to " obey the rules " by selling all of your possessions, bankrupting yourself and your family and throwing your whole clan into a destitute state thus " redistributing " your wealth for the " common " good - just not " your " good. But if you're an expert you manage to amass " hidden " wealth quite competently. If you know the system you divorce, establish an " official " hovel residence, and co-habitate with whom you choose while collecting everything imagineable and available. This government has always been this way and socialist programs do nothing more than exacerbate the problem. In fact any government of man since time immemorial, has never been any different. You either handle life and its pitfalls through personal responsibility, or you abdicate your resposnsibility to someone else. If you are scrupulously honest you get slammed. If not, you learn to " work the system " . > There are now over 44 million working Americans who cannot afford any 44 million and one. > health insurance. Millions of working people who live below poverty > level. None of these people could save anything to put into a health > savings account. This is ludicrous. Only those with a high income would > think this was a solution or be able to afford it. And as Liz mentioned Not so. Many low-income people favor just such a plan for the very reasons mentioned - service, choice, the ability to get proper care. A more thorough reading (if there has been one - an initial reading if not) of the concept and proposals would render a better perspective. There are provisos in just such a plan for those who are unable to work from birth, chronically ill, victims of catastrophic illnesses, etc. It doesn't abandon them to the pit, but it DOES wreak havoc for insurers - the single most profitable sector of industry in history. > those who got sick at young age or havent been able to work steadily for > a long time certainly couldnt put anything away either. I know many AFDC families all of them struggling to get an education to work before they are cut off. Also as an SSI recipient in California I can tell you that NONE of the welfare recipients here want to pay cash money out of our meager checks for our own medical insurance. Not all medications are covered so that comes of my small check aswell. As it is, on SSI you barely make enough to survive let alone live. or have a saving account. If you marry you lose your check. If you marry someone else on SSI the check is cut by half thus two single people living together would get 1400 a month aprox cut down to 900 a month for making it legal. Also if you work as I do and you receive housing here is how your dollar is split up. 33 cents to housing. 50 cents to ssi, 4 cents to social security retirement. 10 cents to taxes Lets add that up. 50+33+4+10= -2 For every hour I work it costs me 2 cents. I can write off the taxes and for every month the first 85 dollars is not counted off my check for SSI at least. So I actually end result get to keep about $60 a month out of the Three hundred I earn. Yep I am Rollin in that welfare dough. Think I will rent me a second hovel and get me a man. Then It will only cost me an additional 150 off my check. Oh yeah plus the $200 it costs to move into that " hovel " and the $700 plus for rent on the hovel. Yep sounds like a real good idea to me! Thanks for the tip! Love,

Guest guest
Dear Saul (or anybody else who can answer this question), I am about to start rectal ozone insufflation and ordinarily take Panax ginseng and Licorice Drops on alternate days first thing in the morning to boost adrenal function. Both ginseng and licorice are said to boost " cell-mediated immunity " , which, among other things, means boosting production of antioxidant enzymes. Would I need to do the insufflation first thing in the morning, say, an hour before the Ginseng or Licorice, in order to avoid their antioxidant effects, which could lessen the effectiveness of the ozone treatment? Or is this concern needless, since ginseng and licorice are not, as far as I know, direct antioxidants like Vitamin C? Thanks, Shingleton svg@... Guest guest
Dear , Good question! As you say, the ginseng and the licorice are not direct antioxidants, so there is nothing to worry about. Their action will be delayed by the amount of time it takes the body to digest and assimilate them, and produce the resultant products. The ozone will have come and gone long before then. I can tolerate eggs if they are hardboiled and I just remove the yolk. These are good sliced in a salad. I also made a sandwich today with whole wheat bread and sliced deli ham, mustard, and fat free mayo. I noticed deli meats aren't listed in the book - perhaps too much sodium?
