Most everyone on this list has described changes in their child during the " off " periods, even with DMSA. Most kids seem to be better while " on " the chelator. Once you stop the chelation cycle, there is some mercury in the body that has been released into the bloodstream. With no chelator to pick it up and move it out of the body, it redistributes. >> Another likely cause of the temporary worsening of symptoms several days after stopping a chelator is that the body notices less metals in the bloodstream and striving for health, releases more into the blood for the body to remove. You get a temporary feeling of metals in the blood as they are sent out of the body. As my body has detoxed, I've noticed a period of worsening of symptoms (even when not actively chelating) followed by a release and jump in health. This cycling of the body's release of metals might be lightened with a very low longer dosing of chelators but then you run the risk of demineralizing the body too much or overloading the kidneys or other detox organs. I think it's important to watch each person's response individually and determine the cycle their body uses to release things and set a chelation schedule accordingly.
