I believe they think the microcephaly arises from the mercury causing

cell death in the developing brain, so the brain is smaller than average.

There are also cases of mercury causing hydrocephaly - water on the brain,

which resulted in an enlarged brain. In autism, no one I have come across

has referred to the macrocephaly as hydrocephaly, but, on the other hand,

they also say they don't know why the brains tend to be larger in some

cases.

I do not recall seeing anyone correlate brain size with level of function.

In fact, across the various neuroimaging studies, no one has been able

to identify any brain abnormality in autism that can be consistently

associated with any observed trait, although there have been lots of theories

trying to do so.

Hello:

In the article "Autism: A Unique Type of Mercury Poisoning"

by Sally Bernard, Lyn Redwood etal listed under

http://www.autism.com/ari/mercurylong.html

it is stated that [Mercury poisoning causes progressive

microcephaly and correspondingly Autism includes

progressive microcephaly and macrocephaly].

Can the experts explain why or how Mercury

poisoning causes progressive microcephaly?

Is there a correlation study I could refer to about loss

of speech and the brain size?

Thanks
