Guest guest
I am a 31 year old male with rheumatoid arthritis since age 5. I was wondering if anyone has had or heard of this surgery: interposition arthroplasty -OR- arthroplasty with tendon interposition My doctor at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, who is also the head of Orthopedic Surgery, has offered it to me as an option for my left hip, but I can't find any info on it. The risk of doing the surgery is if they take too long, the ball portion of the hip will be deprived of blood for too long and will cause the ball portion of the hip to collapse without warning at a later date. (weeks to months) But if there are no complications, it will be better than a hip replacement. (for me anyway) So has anyone here had or heard of this procedure? Thanks.
