I am a member of the NASH group which is a liver disease in which I have along with RA. I thought that this would be of interest to some of you. NASH is a liver disease with no known cure. Who should request from their physician an ultrasonography and laboratory tests to evaluate their liver ? This is a partial list of causes of Fatty Liver Disease Nutritional Drugs Protein-caloric malnutrition Glucocorticoids Starvation Synthetic estrogens Total parenteral nutrition Aspirin Rapid weight loss Calcium-channel blockers Gastrointestinal surgery for obesity Amiodarone Tamoxifen Tetracycline Methotrexate Perhexiline maleate Valproic acid Cocaine Antiviral agents: zidovudine didanosine fialuridine Metabolic or Genetic Other Lypodistrophy Inflammatory Bowel disease Dysbetalipoproteinemia Small-bowel diverticulosis with bacterial overgrowth Weber-Christian disease Human immunodeficiency virus infection Cholesterol ester storage Environmental hepatotoxins: Acute fatty liver of pregnancy Phosphorus Petrochemicals Toxic mushrooms Organic solvents Bacillus cereus toxins I'd worry specially in cases of: 1. Obesity 2.Diabetes Mellitus Type 2 3.Hypertrygliceridemia 4.Family history of steatohepatitis or cryptogenic cirrhosis 5.Females I hope this information results useful. A happy weekend for you all.
